Michigan: Meet Stephen Schilling and Carson Butler. They’re the reason why the cupboard isn’t bare for Rich Rodriguez. Carson Butler is the next Bennie Joppru. And Stephen Schilling is…a right tackle, I can’t do this. The Wolverines are in danger of a 5-7 season. And if you’re a hater? It’s beautiful.

Says he's really think about MSU if he gets an offer.
Dantonio hasn't looked at film yet, but he camped at Cincy when MD was there.

HOMETOWN KID
Ryan lives in my current hometown (Lancaster, OH). He's really a good kid from a good family. As a junior he played LB & FB. I've seen him play and he reminds me of Bobby Carpenter (also from Lancaster). I think Ryan is a little faster than Bobby and maybe a little more instinctive but not as big as Bobby was in HS. The HS coach here is Rob Carpenter (former NY Giants RB & Bobby's dad) who I know and he says Ryan compares very well to Bobby. Bobby was actually a Tailback & LB in HS but Tressel had plenty of RB's and put Bobby on defense.

How did Bobby's career progress? I'm not trying to be a dick if he didn't play past high school, I just want a feeling for Ryan's proverbial ceiling.

PREDICTION: Rich Rodriguez will be fired or leave his job in disgrace. 'His players' won't save him from his own incompetant coaching. I really hope they give him three full seasons. 10/31/8

Bobby Carpenter was a starting LB for the Buckeyes. Now with the Dallas Cowboys.

Bobby was a starting LB for 2 years with the Buckeyes and was drafted in the 1st round by Dallas in 2006 (18th overall). He spent his rookie year on Special Teams and played in the "Nickel Package" in 2007.

Here's another guy that I wonder why no offer. I understand MD needs to look at the film, but a true MLB I would put pretty high on our list of needs. Also, the kid sounds like an animal, already has the ACT to make him eligible.....sounds like an open and shut offer to me.

He won't get an offer until he meets with the coaching staff. That's the way they do things.

Not sure whether or not they met with him. I know that he and Trawick were the only two kids in our recruiting class that did not camp at MSU. Trawick definitely met with the staff. Martin's tapes came out after camp season.

Ryan Cheek
Ryan currently has offers from Cincinnati and Maryland. Ohio State is definitely interested in him with Jim Laurenitis graduating next year and he has visited their campus. Lancaster's top athletes have generally gone to Ohio State going back to Rex Kern (QB of OSU's late 60's National Championship team). Scout lists him @ 215 lbs (2007 HS roster weight) Rivals @ 235 lbs., he's probably closer to about 225 lbs. now. As a Junior he Played some QB (split time at that position) and RB on offense. As a linebacker he has good instincts and is a good tackler, with ball skills in pass defense (2 interceptions). Ohio State is not a lock but if they offer he'll probably go there.

Wow, he has great measurables. Also has the grades. Hopefully we can get him to take a look and meet the coaches and maybe lock him up.

Rivals - Father helps LB develop $
Nothing about the Rivals weekend. He's been to Cincinnati and visiting Maryland soon. Father is a DC for his high school football team.
Measured in at 6'0" 232.2.

ESPN scouting report:
ESPN on RC
Based on their comments about his speed, I'm thinking they didn't see a 4.5 40 and 4.1 shuttle.
