Are We Seeing the Results of Rebuilt Pipelines?
Over the past two recruiting classes, we've seen Dantonio recruiting Michigan and Ohio hard. He's built relationships in the school's and communities. He's gotten his assistants comfortable with the area, and I think as a result, we're seeing a warming toward MSU. We saw players like Barksdale, Rojo, Gray, etc show interest in Dantonio's philosophy, but go elsewhere due to uncertainty. I truly believe that as he continues to drill away, we're finally seeing the results, as high character and well skilled recruits not only show interest, but commit themselves to the program.

The new facilities certainly help.

as does the situation in AA. MSU goes to a Pro Style O, then um goes to a spread that keys on the QB as a frequent ball carrier.

Wouldn't say that UofM has much if anything to do with us landing Baker and Caper.

Combine that with the upgrades around campus and , and we could be seeing the perfect storm leading to something very special in Spartan Stadium very soon.

I'm just looking at the fact that neither of them seemed interested in UofM to begin with. Caper was originally an ND lean. Baker was looking at the SEC. I'm still hoping that the switch to the spread opens up some doors for kids that want to block in a pro-style offense as opposed to a spread...which we learned the hard way requires a very different style of lineman...and if it helps us land Dion Sims, well that's fine too.

Here's the only reason I don't agree with you, mind you I've noticed that I normally do. Dickrod's spread is more focused on a "get to the corner" scat pack style runner. Yes, Caper and Baker have great speed at the corner, but they also seem to like to run down hill. Would scUM love to have them, for sure, but I still think the system change had a little to do with it. The biggest influence scUM had on them was hiring a coach with no ethics, who's just a used cars salesman that parents, let alone players, can't trust.

Like I said above, neither appeared to be big players in their recruitment based on their interest levels even before Carr left.

I think both Caper and Baker would have given UM a much harder look if the Carr regime was still in place.

Caper maybe, but only because Gray committed to ND.

Negative. We've already determined it's because of Brian Kelly.
