Caper Story (The PM stuff)
Okay, I was going to put this in the Caper thread, but with that adding a page every 30 seconds, I thought I would make this a seperate thread for those that were interested.
By now we all know about the PM craze-sorry about that. The cat is out of the bag because Caper is now publicly stating what was in my story/experience. Because of the interest everyone showed, I thought I would now share. Mods, if you want to move this after today, sounds good to me.
This past weekend I met Larry Caper. He was as cool as can be. Greeted me with a "playa hug" for lack of a better word and was very open and receptive. I explained that I've been a big fan and that those of us here on Spartantailgate.com were all huge fans. I told him that we have been watching his videos and really pulling for him to commit. I told him that I thought him and Baker would be a perfect combination in our offense and that they would keep each other fresh enabling better numbers and fresher legs at the next level. He was smiling a lot and just kept agreeing and seemed to be getting more and more excited as we discussed it. I then asked if he had committed this weekend. His response was, "Yeah, I'm committing." A: To MSU? "Yeah, I want to right now, but I have to get my mom here for that. I want her to be here when I make my commitment." I told him that was great with a huge smile on my face. I told him I thought it was a good idea to have his mom there for such a big day and he agreed. He was really cool, but quiet when sharing the commitment info which led me to believe he didn't want others overhearing. But, one gentleman did overhear a bit and asked me who he was. I said, "Let me introduce to you star running back Larry Caper who will be wearing green and white as a Spartan once his high school career finishes up." Caper got a big smile on his face and shook the man's hand. He then told me that he would be setting up a date and the announcement would come in either a week or two. He just had to find a date that works for everyone. I told him all of my boys were already huge fans and gave him a hand shake and wished him luck.
As we finished our conversation, a group of guys walked up to us led by Fred Smith. Fred was also extremely cool and greeted me with a playa hug as well. I whispered to him that I look forward to watching him rip up the Big Ten. He said, "YEEEEYA." Then I looked at Charles Burrell and told him I couldn't wait to see him as well. He reached out and greeted. I was told later that I overlooked Sims in the group of guys chillin', but I don't know if that is true or not.
So I know this is just a run-down of what the pm said for those of you that received it. But I thought I would put this out there now for those that I still haven't gotten back to or those that are interested. Maybe this was inevitable but as of this weekend Caper never said he was commiting, he only said we were his favorite. So having one of the top running backs in the nation let me know one on one about his commitment to Michigan State was extremely exciting. Thanks to those who were hush hush, lots of trustworthy guys here because I don't believe it leaked.
Go State!!!

Ummm, I'm not sure who you are but I have to say this concerns me slightly. Are you a student that ran into him on campus while he visited or an alum/fan that randomly ran into him in Detroit.

IIRC he's either a high school coach or the son of a high school coach...or maybe he's both?! Anyways, I remember he provided some sweet ass pictures a year or two ago from when he and his dad were invited to attend a MSU basketball practice at the Berkowitz Center.

Larry Caper was at the basketball game and I believe Tre is a student and went up to him and talked to him.
Its not against the rules, but a tad creepy some would think. Nothing illegal and some guys won't be as friendly as Larry is, that is the only thing he needs to be aware of.

DrTre- Have you ever donated money to MSU? If you had to describe your relationship with MSU, would you say its fair to use the term, "booster" ??

I don't believe DrTre delivers bakery items from the trunk of his car like that well known UM booster if that's what you're getting at.

As long as DrTre is a current MSU student (college appropriate age), I don't think most recruits would think it is creepy for him to talk to them. When I was at state thats what it was all about. Meeting new people and making new friends. Now if some 50 your old guy was trying to hug Larry and talk him into going to MSU that would probably be inappropriate.

The sense of humor on this board is sorely lacking

My bad for posting my last message twice it was an accident. Big M, I knew you were joking and thought your comment was very funny. If it makes you feel better it made me laugh out loud.
