Get ready for the MD is cheating commentary based on the success with the 2009 class
You know its started already, and it will grow from our friends at um, and other schools fans as well. Some here have made similar comments about successes other coaches have had, but its not the same situation(s).
The difference is we aren't raiding another state and pulling in kids we shouldn't get under normal circumstances. These are all MI kids, and we have a shot at every single one of them, anyone laying accusations we aren't doing it the right way would be way off base. MD isn't a Zookian type recruiter.
I hope the early success puts us in a position to raid someone elses backyard as we fill the remaining spots in this class. If it happens, and I think it will, that would be a direct result of MD's approach and the success we have had so far.
Outstanding job by MD and staff. Most excited I have been about MSU football in a long time.

We're so excited for this class except we won't even see them in green and white for more than a year and a half.

Good point.
Illinois and Zook were ripped severly on this board.
The only different is (was) Illinois was 2-11 and pulling in a huge class. But I was on of the few on this site that defended Zook.

Because as stated earlier, people did it here about others, and it raises the question as to whether those who dished it out can take it. A legitimate question.
I've already heard comments from my um co-workers even before Caper committed, so as it gets better, the comments will grow.

First off, damn are you paranoid.
Second, congrats on the early five. All five should become decent-to-excellant starters (with Norman and Baker probably becoming All Big Ten performers). MD has a great start to the '09 class but now he needs difference makers on D and some solid O-lineman.
I think you have a major misconception about how UM fans are viewing MSU's '09 early commits. Most well informed UM fans think that Maxwell, Spencer, and Caper were not the best fit for RR's system and everyone knows RR did not make those three priorities in the class. However, Norman and Baker would have fit in well at UM, but MSU won out fair and square. UM fans think alot of things about MD, but dirty is not one that ever comes up. If the MSU fanbase gives MD adequate time, good results will come. If too much is expected to fast, then I think that is unfair for MD.
Anyone who follows the '09 recruiting scene knows UM has made four instate kids priorities: Campbell, Teric Jones, James Jackson, and Dion Sims. Just how MSU insiders felt good about their chances with the early 5, UM insiders feel very good about those four. The key areas of need for UM's class stand as dual-threat QBs, DEs, DTs, and CBs/Ss. As seen by players who have already been offered and the finish to the '08 class and the background of 4 assistant coaches (from Univ of South Florida), Florida, Ohio, Penn, and Texas will stand to make up the majority of UM's future classes.
Based upon how things seem to be working out (RR's system vs MD's system), UM and MSU shouldn't go head to head as much for instate kids. A common misconception is that UM relied upon Michigan kids in the past. This just has not been the case for the past 10+ years and Michigan kids figure to make up an even smaller percentage of UM's fb team in the future.
Not all "scUM" fans view every MSU success as a sign of cheating, nor try to dismiss recruiting success for the Spartans. Personally, the future of both UM and MSU football is looking extremely bright and both fan bases are the most excited with regards to their individual programs as I can remember.

WHO CARES! As long as we are getting top players to verbal, who really cares what fans of other teams say on their own boards?

First of all, all these kids are from Michigan and second of all we are not coming off a 2-11 season. Let them say what they want. Who cares. I have questioned Illinois but without out proof it means nothing. Hell, Zook recruited great at UF, he just could not coach them.

why because he is a dirty cheater? Illinois football success=equals cheating. look it up in the history books if you don't believe me. I have herd many stories from credible people/coaches about the zookster and his dirty ways.

Sometimes kids just meet a coach that clicks with them. Then they start to see that they could build something really special with that coach and the right class of their peers. Man I am excited about being a MSU fan.

That is exactly what I said earlier. These are MI kids, every one of them.
You know the PO'ed fans of other schools are going to spew this crap. Can we take it?
Lord knows many of us have questioned Zook and Matta, among others, can we take what we have said thrown back at us?
Deleting threads says we can't. We all know its being done the right way. Why run from the inevitable?
Its only a matter of time before we start seeing this crap posted. If we can post it about others, we know we are going to get it back twofold.
May as well prepare ourselves for what is coming our way.

What you mean
A first year coach who turns a 4 - 8 team into a 7 - 6 team with the 6 losses by a total of 31 (?) points
/=
a coach who goes 4 - 19 his first 2 seasons then lands a top 10 class?

Summerize-
MSU might be accused of cheating because we're doing good.
No, we have a history of doing good, and we have a reason to pull in good players.
You made fun of the Zooker.
Yes, because he went from 2-10 to top ten recruiting
You made fun of the Zooker and now Dantonio is a saint?
Yes, because Dantonio just pulled players from the bottom of the roster and sent them into the draft.
You made fun of the Zooker!

I think this thread should be nuked.
MD is an honest guy. That is his MO. Discussion about the probability of MSU cheating by fans from other schools due to jealously is absurd. We all know they will, but nearly as much as people from all over the big ten and country did / does about Zook and Illinois. There is no comparison.
