ND might be a ton of hype, but they certainly are reeling in the top prospects. Whatever they're selling, recruits are buying it, and it'll be foolish to think that Bollough won't at least listen.

With Tenuta at ND, there is every reason to be worried. He's a great DC. Weis couldn't coach his way out of a McDonald's bag, but they've picked up some coaches who can.

I'd be much more worried about UCLA. Bullough isn't your typical ND recruit. Being a legacy (and a fairly important one at that), I'm sure his family is very dialed in with the politics at that school. While there is still a large contingent of fans who are content to drink cool aide and point at all their great recruits, many of the alumni are VERY worried about the direction that program is headed right now. Worst season in the history of ND football, the very public defections, and getting blown out in both bowl games is not a good way to keep the donors happy over there.

So you're saying he wants to play for Uncle Chuck at UCLA?
Makes alot of sense.

Bullough - the real deal with ND

So here is the real deal with real meat, not conjecture.
Irish fans, while recognizing the MSU connection with Bullough, also seem to believe that because of Weis (not despite him), the Irish are at 50/50 or better as far as the odds go in landing Bullough.
Why? His other grandfather, Jim Morse, was the captain of the 1956 Irish squad. Jim's son Jimmy Morse played for the Irish; the other, Bobby Morse, played for MSU. Jim Morse apparently hosted Tenuta at a Muskegon golf outing two weeks ago and is a ND man through and through. There is also a rumor that it was his private jet that was used to court both Urban Meyer and Charlie Weis a few years back and that Morse remains VERY close to Weis until this day.
Morse presently sits on various academic and athletic advisory bodies at ND; he is an incredible benefactor for the liberal arts and athletic programs.
So to post something out of ignorance is unhelpful and wastes our time. If having a larger-than-life grandfather who played some role (large?) in courting the current ND football coach is not an "inside" track for ND, I don't know what is. Oh yeah, he just camped at ND and the ND coaches are excited to talk to him in early September. Looks like they will offer on 9/1 and make a full court press.
Now let's just hope the Bullough name and at the end of the day, MD and Co., can pull him to State.

The flip side of that coin is that boosters (like any other fan) can turn on a coach very quickly. Another losing season and I imagine that the same boosters that put out the red carpet for Weiss will very happily pull it out from underneath him.

Thanks for the tree, that's cool of you. I love the fact that we are probably the team to beat or at least one of the top 2-3 favorites for many of the top players next year already. Man....if we can get like 8 wins this year or more and then reel in another stellar class, we are on our way.

Love the family tree
Wasn't his mom (or aunt) a cheerleader at MSU as well?

Forgive me for asking this.....I was 12 years old and hawking Cokes in Spartan Stadium and wasn't able to pay enough attention at the time....
Did Shane play in the Rose Bowl? It kinda looks to the uninformed poster (me) that there was a 1 year gap there...

After further review, it's 4.5-2-.5, as Chuck is on UCLA's staff at this time (but will always be a at heart ).

Shane's last season was '86. Chuck was a freshman on that team however.

Do you think Shane and family are ready to fly out to the west coast every weekend for the next 4-5 years? Big $$$.

Didn't see this article posted anywhere....another nice write up on Max Bullough....also mentions Percy and Eric Snow's nephew as a LB prospect for '10.
Wouldn't THAT be something....Bullough and Snow as MSU LB's again.
Could another Bullough join the Spartans? | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Will be interesting to who we target at LB. Obviously Hicks and Turner from Ohio would be great gets but they are going to be long shots.
Bullough is the plan A+ obviously but would love Bullough and Snow.

According to Jim Stefani, he is rated higher than Bullough.
Stefani had Snow the 14th best linebacker in the 2010 class and Bullough the 18th.
I think both are 4* players.

Thanks for the info. Would be great if we could land both. Not only would we have linebacker depth we would have very talented depth. It is amazing how quickly has changed the vibe surrounding this program.

If Austin Gray's in the mix too that's a lot of LB's. Does that mean we only take 2 this year and maybe move Winston over if it doesn't work out?
