Could you imagine those two plugging the middle together. Not saying I expect it but man would it be sweet.

I wouldn't be surprised to see UM get involved with Buckner now. They were done at DT, but with Campbell out, they'll certainly be looking to fill that spot, and given how it took DickRod less than two weeks to get Forcier to commit in Newsome's place, I doubt he's going to wait around for Campbell vacation all over the nation.

I think it is a little different.
I don't think he can quickly find a replacement for Campbell.
With Newsome, he had Forcier and Eugene Smith in play.
If he goes ahead and just says see ya Will he will lose a ton and I mean a ton of support in Detroit.
Not to mention Buckner really isn't close to Campbell's level.

There's a new video interview up on Scout today in which Lendell apparently states he'll be visiting MSU. Anybody out there with a subscription willing to tell us when that visit is to take place and if its an official? Maybe there's still hope after all.

Don't get your hopes up, he's firmly committed. He just wants some free trips and football games.
Sincerely,

Buckner will most likely be visiting by himself and there won't be any package deal, to MSU. Leon Hill has stated that he is solid to Ill. and most likely won''t be visiting any other schools. The depth chart at DT is in our favor when compared to Ill. but I wouldn't get your hopes up. If Buckner is concerned with playing time MSU would be his best option.

Is it really in our favor? We only lose Kershaw and return Jeremiah, Wilson, Pickleman, Jordan, Worthy, while adding Treadwell and France.

Exactly. We have a great class and need to continue to follow up this effort every year to get to where MSU should be. MSU can no longer, or I should say, should no longer just fill in spots with marginal players. Buckner is the type of player that can come in and get some valuable time. The top teams in the country don't say forget this player because we already have a few players committed (i.e. OSU has 7 DB's and is most likely going to offer CB Mike Edwards).
To be an elite team in the big team, and the country, MSU has to continue to bring in the talent. This is what the best teams in the country do. Buckner would be a great pickup at one of the most important positions on the team. Hope we can get him on campus for a visit soon.

QFT
To be a great team, especially in the big 10, you have to have depth. PSU have had a lot of problems on the D-Line with injury and suspensions, and they still have great players there. USC has a stable of RB's that they use. To really excell we need guys who can step in and not miss a beat. The further along in the season it gets, the more important that is. We have already seen a tremendous improvement in our db's, even though we have had injuries and lost our starting safety before the season started. Load them up!
And to keep this thread on track, if Buckner wants to play for the Spartans, he is more than welcome!

Per Scout Article:
Illinois fans have reason to breathe easy. Chicago (Ill.) Leo offensive lineman Leon Hill, a longtime commitment to the Illini, says he is ready to shut recruiting down and not take any visits. His teammate and fellow Illinois commitment Lendell Buckner says he will likely take his official visits, with Michigan State, Arizona and Wisconsin as current possible destinations.
