Link? Which high profile running backs are you talking about? Jackson? Jones? I've heard talk that Jackson might switch positions if MSU recruited him.

I would assume that neither Baker or Caper gets redshirted, but a '10 back (Austin White - Livonia Stevenson) would get a RS if signed.

Michigan: Meet Stephen Schilling and Carson Butler. They’re the reason why the cupboard isn’t bare for Rich Rodriguez. Carson Butler is the next Bennie Joppru. And Stephen Schilling is…a right tackle, I can’t do this. The Wolverines are in danger of a 5-7 season. And if you’re a hater? It’s beautiful.

I one of them will, We will have Jimmerson, and Anderson, we'll probably redshirt both actually unless Ray/Anderson gets injured or isn't as good as advertized.

No we won't.
And it's because the young guys are that good, not the older kids 'not being as good as advertised'.
RB's can contribute early. The USC backs seem to earn PT independent of class year, same with Georgia and every good team. Why would MSU be any different?

Caper and Baker COULD contribute 09-13(/14(NYD bowl), but they would be MUCH more valuable 10-14/15(NYD bowl)

We're still recruiting Teric and Hersey as athletes, just as scum is. Basically, we will find places for them, if we get them. We made our decision though, and scum made it really easy for Baker and Caper to make their decision, as they are more traditional backs.

The rule of college sports is win games now. Partially because jobs aren't secure. Partially because a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. And mostly because winning games brings new kids in, and RS Juniors often have degrees, so they have no reason to return for their senior years.
One will likely be RSed. But both? Maybe a .03% shot(barring injuries or 2 backs blowing up who are already on the roster).

I wouldn't be surprised if they redshirt both of them in 2009. there will be quite a few backs in front of them in seniority when they get on campus. Jimmerson will be a senior. Leggett and Anderson will be sophomores. Ray and Winston will be redshirt freshman (if they are still playing RB). I've heard that both Leggett and Anderson were looking VERY good in the bowl practices. There was a lot of discussion involving how difficult Anderson was to tackle. I know the easy thing is to forget a lot of the guys who are already on the team and become enamored with the new recruits because they are the next big thing. However, don't fall asleep on Anderson. Before things are all said and done, he could very well end up being a star for us.

Do you think it makes sense to add a 3rd RB to the 09 class? This is already a deep position for us and we're looking at a smallish class already. I'd like to see us stock up on linemen and DBs.

Wrong. MSU is DONE at RB for '09. If a prospect that has played RB is being targeted it is for another position.

There has been some talk of recruiting Hersey as a FB.

I watched some game tapes of Hersey Jackson and on some plays he was lined up @ FB and broke some big runs right up the middle. He isn't built like a traditional FB but is certainly athletic. He has an upright running style, but can run with power similar to Eddie George but looks shiftier and faster. Rivals currently has him ranked as a 3 * prospect. I would hope MSU could find a spot for him because this kid is a playmaker !

Actually he is a four star on rivals and in the Rivals 250.
