He would need a MSU offer which is something he does not have. Howard has been out of the mix for months now.....

All this talk of who is a bigger risk and all that seems pretty irrelevant. Howard had grade issues two years ago. Is there any information anywhere that says he has grade issues currently? I have not seen any, in fact, I believe I read that he's on schedule to finish up a semester early from his JC so he could enroll at MSU in January. That does not sound like someone with grade problems to me.
So basically, Dantonio wants him, he's offered him, and Howard says MSU's his top choice right now. Works for me, which is good since I (translation: we) don't have any say in the matter anyway.

Can't we say the same thing about Vushaj?

I think so, but Vushaj has the current lingering grade concerns which sounds like it's the wrench in the cogs about him having clear offer. But frankly, I haven't been paying much attention to his recruitment, so I don't know for sure.

I read that he took an online math class this summer, that if he did well in the class, he should be back on track.

I would certainly hope this kid would be able to get a ticket from one of the two schools....and I would certainly think he would be an interested bystander.

JH: I don’t know the date. I do know that my Memphis visit may change. I just sent my transcript to Cal and Michigan State today, so I may go to one of those two schools.

There's been a lot of speculation that we don't have room for him, but it sure sounds like we'll take him if he wants us, doesn't it?

I don't think that it's about want on either side. It's about that he's a JUCO and may not even be able to get in.

How would this kid compare with Dell and BJ? Our depth chart this week has a top 8 with 4 freshmen, 2 sophomores, 1 junior, and 1 senior, so do we need him?

I want to respond to the double standard argument that was going on and I wasn't completely aware. Here is my opinion, you take a look at each kid (Howard and Vus) and you see if they are on the road to success. IF they are, then I'd rather take the chance on Howard because he looks ultra-talented on film. Do I want ANY shady characters? NO. My opinion on Howard over Vus. is based on the assumption that Dantonio feels they are both on the right track, and that Howard is much more talented. I wouldn't give Howard a second chance because he's 5 star type of talent and not Vus. because he's 3 star type of talent. I'm saying if they BOTH look to be on the right track, given history of bad grades, I'm going to go with the higher upside kid IF I feel the risk is not all that high. That seems like commen sense to me.
I guess it might not matter though since we don't seem to be in the picture anymore.

Getting a kid into MSU from JUCO is way riskier then it is to take a flier on a kid that could wind up making the grades.
But we weren't pursuing Howard since Bennie Fowler snatched up his offer so I don't think it is a situation of Howard vs. Vushaj.
