solid all away around. not surprised some of the kids dropped because of the school they committed to. i have confidence that when they continue with the summer workouts and hit the football season in the fall that our boys will impress everyone and show why they will be great at MSU

doesn't scout tend to drop the commited recruits a bit to try and keep interest?

Interesting rankings.
Thoughts:
Treadwell is #3 center in country, but 3 *
Maxwell will move up given his continued positive camps etc.
VERY solid class so far.

just wondering as I'm still semi new to following recruiting. Who do you guys think does a better job of ranking/evaluating recruits? Rivals or Scout? I tend to prefer Rivals.

It seems like they have not gone over all of the tapes for the Centers yet.

Here's the actual link to the list:
Scout.com: Football Recruiting
Baker dropped to #69 in the country and the #9 RB (was #2)
Norman at #84 (#5 SLB)
Caper at #193 (#21 RB)
Spencer (#93 WR)
Treadwell (#3 Center)
Maxwell (#50 QB).....#50? Are you serious?

i would say rivals for football and scout for basketball. i enjoy scout's website overall because you dont need a premium membership to see when visits and offers come out

So are Scout rankings back to being awful now?
In all seriousness, they are pretty bad and from what I've read/heard, Beaver has a ton of influence over Michigan/Midwest kids which probably explains much of this.

I'm not saying they are awful. I think they do a better job for basketball. Im saying that these new updated rankings are based on the few football camps that have been attended so far and what school you committed to. I will trust the rankings more (even though they dont mean much when the kids set foot on campus) when they come out at the end of summer and when kids are playing football games again

No, Scout rankings are pretty bad, especially for a school like MSU. Beaver (the UM Scout guy) has a ton of influence over the local rankings and he isn't exactly objective.

lol i didnt say they were great either. thats part of the reason i think rivals is better in football. but to be honest if i see a class full of 3 and 4 stars then i know we have some talent coming in. I have full confidence in our coaching staff of getting the best out of our players so rankings for the most part is just something to fill up time until football season

The differences between Scout and Rivals always really surprises me....like Spencer being the #93 WR in the Nation (which is a complete joke) and then he's in the top 250 total players on Rivals and prolly top 20 some WR's

Scout is fine and dandy if you're a consistent top 20 program.
Rivals, if you're a MSU fan is much better.

Also, LOL at Sparty losing their only chance at a 5* prospect. I guess there was a reason U-M didn't come hard after Baker.
|
    yeah, that's the reason.
All of the sudden Teric becomes a 4 star, Baker gets dropped to a 4 star, Newsome gets bumped to a 5 star, Maxwell is barely a top 50 QB, Spencer is blown off the map, and UM's recent 3 star QB recruit becomes a 4 star WR?
Now MSU's class doesn't even compare to UM's based on scout rankings . A few weeks ago we had arguably a better class and now after a ranking change, we look like **** in comparison. **** it, we'll see how this translates to the field.

Yes, it is laughable. If I was AA I would ban Scout rankings from this board altogether.

I don't care if Scout put all of our kids up to 5 stars, I would say the same thing:
Scout is TERRIBLE. They continue to prove so with inaccuracy and inaccurate reports.
