Gholston was offered by Wisconsin today. Many still feel that MSU is in the lead for him due to coaching relationships and the NEED for MSU at DE, ant the whole Dline for that matter.

Speaking of Cass Tech/Southeastern, they met for the third time this year in the playoffs this past weekend, and for the third time, Gholston's SE squad beat a team full of future UMers. By 48 points. That's right, with a future UM QB, RB, and OL, Cass Tech got shutout 48-0 by Gholston and friends.

He has said that he wants to commit sometime during his senior season.

I'm fully aware of that. I'm just trying to make it sound as bad a possible.

From this new article in the Detroit News, it looks like we've got a serious in with Gholston that hasn't yet been discussed here:
Quote:
|
"He's been playing since little league, so we started real early and kept the basics," said Gholston's mother, Pam Ward. "School is first, sports come next."
|
One of our biggest fans (judging by her attendance at our games) is a family member!

From a Rivals article:
Defensive end William Gholston of Detroit Southeastern High School has a great chance of being the #1 prospect in Michigan for the class of 2010 and a 5-star prospect. SpartanMag.com has video of the 6-foot-7, 245-pound prospect in action from last weekend's regional final against Dearborn Fordson.
Even if there are other prospects that are ranked higher I have to believe that he is MSU's number one prospect for the 2010 class.

He has posted on that board before if I recall correctly.
OSU still has to offer him which the later they hold off the less worried I am about them.

Not surprised and never said I was. Yeah, he posted a lot on there, but he hasn't done so in several months. There's also been much speculation on the OSU boards that he would get an offer whenever he was able to visit Columbus....

I am surprised. I thought he was feeling MSU and didn't think he was really in the OSU mindset at all.

I think he is feeling us but he isn't a lock.
OSU is going to be a big factor in this, especially if he gets an offer this weekend.

All due respect.........
You guys HAD to suspect O$U would pop up and make a serious play for this kid. I mean, his brother DID play there.......that being said I believe he's the baby in the family, Mom is closer to E.Lansing and also....there is ALOT to be said for younger brother's not wanting to get overshadowed by their NFL all world bigger brothers. Hey, we have a great head start and relationship with the kid. Time will tell, but if he wants to play early and often, get out of his brother's formidable shadow, and still compete for a Big Ten title at a great school.... MSU will be his choice.

Will is Vernon's COUSIN. Will hasn't received an OSU offer to my knowledge yet and he is MSU's number one target for 2010. Dantonio recruited Vernon to OSU and has a great relationship with Will. OSU is in great shape with two other DE's that they have offered ahead of Will for 2010 and they have at least 4 highly ranked DE's in the last two recruiting classes. MSU offers PT, maybe and most likely immediate for Will. IMO he is the most important recruit in 2010, not to take away from others, but our Dline, especially DE, needs to be upgraded. Will could come to MSU and make an immediate impact.
Also, Will could bring his talented DT teammate, Johnathon Hankins to MSU with him. Just another reason Will is so important to the 2010 class for MSU.

uhh they aren't brothers. They are cousins. And I believe 2nd cousins. If I remember correctly he has only talked to Vernon like once in his life or something.
