Honest mistake the way your post was written. Either way, good news for us.

From what I've heard he is going to commit sometime soon, maybe after signing day. WOTS is he tried to commit once but Dantonio told him to make sure he is 100% sure. That way he won't decommit. Good thinking.

I heard the same from a pretty credible source. Gholston is a MUST GET for us in this class. I know everyone says that but in this case it's true. MSU needs at least one big time DE to help take this program to the next level. Getting pressure on the QB is what hurt the defense this year and Gholston is the playmaker that can do it. This is great news, hopefully he commits soon and brings Johnathon Hankins with him.

I was right across the arena from him and he seemed like he was having a great time. There were times that he chanted along with the Izzone and when one of the Izzone members got the Pizza House delivery thing Gholston was given the first slice.

Hopefully a slice of pizza isn't a recruiting violation.

Does anybody know the rules when it comes to this stuff? I have a hard time believing that a slice of pizza would get us or him in trouble...but when I played basketball for a community college our coach couldn't give us anything. One time one of our players needed to make a phone call from a payphone and he had to pay the coach back.

Yeah I was in the Death Roe and William was sitting right in front of me. Seemed like a real nice kid. I'd say he had a great time... he caught a slider from the post, a t-shirt from a cheerleader, a mini ball from the dance team, and snagged a slice of our pizza... those are the four essentials to having a HOF Izzone Career as a member and he got them all in one fricken game.

Gholston and Sims in next week?
trying.....not ......to.....pitch ......tent................it's futile. Complete WOOD over the thought of these two guys rounding out this class: top 10 or higher in country if true I would thin.

Only problem in that Gholston would count towards next years recruiting class and Sims towards this years class. We'd need a few more 2009 recruits to help with a Top 10 this year.

With + at the seat of the recruiting chariot, I am confident that we'll get sims and gholston. long term trending quality recruiting is essential to providing consistent classes. FOOTBALL!!!

No way we get top ten this year. Best case for us is around #13 or so. We'll definitely have a top 20 class this year.

i would say the goal would be in the top 25 every year. recruiting rankings as a whole are a better indication of what kind of talent you are bringing in. top 25 means that you are getting the players needed to compete for a conference title. then its up to the coaching staffs and players committment to the team

Agreed. Though with great coaching and a solid team you can compete for a confernece title like we were able to do this year. I know what you are saying, but with consistent top 25 classes we should be able to compete for a lot more with the coaching we have at MSU. Ill. is a good example of the opposite, good talent but decent coaching at best leaves them struggling to make a bowl game. A top 15 class would be great and a commitment from Will Gholston early could set us up for an even better class in 2010.

we really had no business competing for a conference title this past year. however with OSU off the schedule the next couple of years i think we can pull it off if the underclassmen coming in can contribute right away

Agreed. This year was absolute smoke and mirrors. We did well because Dantonio coached the hell out of these kids, we avoided major injuries and the kids came together and worked their tails off.
Just look two-deep position by position and it's incredible the way we played. This is the least talented team in recent memory but they played the best. Really incredible job by these kids.
Going into this coming year we're going to get no respect from the national media because they'll all say we lost our whole offense in Ringer, leadership in Hoyer and best defensive player in Wiley, but this is the year coach D's recruits start to shine. We'll surprise everyone.
