he's anything but gone.
Tressel offers immediately after jamel turner gets kicked out of his H.S. Vernon and Will seldomly speak to each other.
USC doesn't talk to gholston for weeks than randomly he gets an offer, who says USC is making him a priority? They probably have 2-3 kids that they offered along with gholston.
Pretty sure his mother only played ball there for a short period, also pretty sure she'd prefer her son stay closer to home. Will also lives with a guardian who's a big MSU supporter

I wonder what people would be saying if any of our recruiting targets where living with "guardians" who were UofM or OSU or USC or LSU or............................anyone besides MSU fans?

its happened to us tons of times, remember kenny demens, mommy wouldn't let him commit to MSU she wanted him to wait around until UofM offered and then it was history.

Gholston knows what campus looks like. Only reason to visit is to commit in person!
Haha, okay, that might be green-tinted thinking but it's fun.

Might be? That said, it's always good that a prospect visits campus multiple times. If he likes campus and makes some friends, things could end well.

Yeah, another interpretation, they connect as men of genuine faith. If Gholston was ready to commit and told him to check things out and to be really sure, it's not hard to imagine he'd want to show respect for his 'friends', particularly if he felt the need to get them ready for news they don't want to hear.
Or, he could be close to becoming a

Here's hoping to Will coming to MSU.

So... His HS coach and/or guardian aren't going to decide for him????

For the record I never said they would be the determining factor. But Naive to think they aren't a positive for MSU in his recruitment.

He can try it, but I still think his future lies at 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB. He's just too good of a pass rusher. Plus, a dominant DL is more in demand than a dominant MLB.

William Gholston, 6-7, 245, Detroit/Southeastern
Craig Haubert on Gholston: A tall and physically impressive prospect, Gholston is not tough to spot on the football field. He will likely fit best as a defensive end in college but is also a tough linebacker. The versatile defender is kid to watch, as he could cause problems coming off the edge with his build and athleticism.
Recruiting buzz: Gholston says that he is open at this point. Michigan is believed to be the team to beat, but he could end up anywhere. Ohio State, Southern California, Michigan State, LSU, Alabama and Miami are some of the schools that are also in the mix.
hasnt basically everyone said thats prolly not gonna happen?

Maybe Craig has a valid source or maybe it is just wishfull thinking. He used to live in Detroit FWIW. Remember that his job is to speculate and get the attention of readers.
I think Gholston is a Spartan at heart, at least I hope he is.

From UofM rivals article...Gholston does have a top five but doesn't want to say who's in it.
