Yeah I'm vowing to be more patient in the future, especially when it comes to Gholston. He's the man I can't wait to see him on the field

With Bollough and Gholston at LB, MSU is set for the future. Think about it Gainer, Norman, Gholston, Bollough, Drone, Williams, Hammock, Gardner. Sick.

I agree with this. The Detroit papers have been propaganda organs for the other school for many, many years. Remember Joe Falls? Both papers are dying of lack of quality content. The death will be slow, but sure.

(Lynn Henning is the exception to the rule. His writing is above average.)

Scout.com recently upgraded Gholston to a FIVE star!

Fair enough Ancient- however I implore all of you to read Mlive and their coverage. I feel it's fair unbiased and very good from a journalistic standpoint. ( yeah, it isn't perfect but it's alot better than the Dtown rags IMO)

Here's a sample by Grincz today:

MICHIGAN STATE SPARTANS News, Blogs, Photos, Schedule & Stats

"Spartan Football All-Access" TV debuts tonight

by Steve Grinczel Monday August 17, 2009, 1:40 PM

EAST LANSING -- You'll get a chance to see the Skandalaris Football Center at Michigan State up close and personal when "Spartan Football All-Access" debuts Monday night at 7 on FOX Sports Detroit.
Head coach Mark Dantonio will be your tour guide as he takes you through the state-of-the-art facility, which opened a year ago.
As if seeing exhibits lauding great teams and players of the past weren't enough, Dantonio will also provide "in-depth analysis of the position battles at quarterback and running back" during the 30-minute show, according to MSU's sports information department.

There will also be features on the defense and fifth-year senior center Joel Nitchman, who spent his summer as an intern with the Ingham County Sheriff's office in Mason.

The season preview edition of "Spartan Football All-Access" features FOX Sports Detroit personalities Mickey York, Shireen Saski, Ryan Field and Justin White along with Spartan Sports Network color analyst Jim Miller and weekly program host Dave Ellis.

The "Spartan Sports Zone" will follow at 7:30 and the 30-minute season premiere previews all of MSU's fall sports.

"Spartan Football All-Access" will replay Monday night at 10, followed by the "Spartan Sports Zone" at 10:30.

Their site has without question become more organized and updated and I like how they update their rankings of teams and players quite often.
Because of things like putting Garnder ahead of Gholston. Noone is saying that Gardner is a bad player, but everyone know that it was little bitch Sam Webb that got in someones ear and got the change. It's going to sell more subscriptions to that joke of a site since he's been saying that scum has the top player in state. Sam Webb is a joke, scout is a joke.

I wonder, when was the last time MSU had a 5 star recruit (assuming Gholston doesn't bail out before signing)??????
Baker was a 5* and the #2 RB in the nation at one point on Scout, Caper was like the #4 RB as well early on.

A buddy of mine is a coach at a High School in metro Detroit. He was at Lathrup High School this week and got a chance to meet Will. My friend is a diehard Wal-Mart Wolverine, and he would have loved to find something bad to say, but here's the major points of the conversation:

Will was wearing an MSU jacket, and sounded 100 percent sure of his decision. My friend told him he should go to U of M and Will laughed it off.
He was there scouting a team that he'll play against this year. Nice dedication.
He's huge, absolutely ripped, and incredibly fast (duh). Will said he's lifting like crazy and putting on some quality weight.
He'll probably only be a 3 year player, he's very excited to get "NFL Money."
He expects to start as a freshman.

I know this isn't exactly new information, but it's still good to hear something right from Will. And frankly, hell, it's cool to be able to contribute some actual info for once lol.

I can't wait to see this kid in Green and White. If his MSU jersey is put to print while he is going there, I'll buy it in a second. I think he's going to be great for our program.

Detroit News continues to imply that Gholston is taking visits and keeping his options open..

Off the field, well, let's just say he's keeping his options open.

Although he has verbally committed to play at Michigan State next season, he told The Detroit News he would take official visits to Alabama, Florida, Southern California and possibly Tennessee or Virginia.

I think this was based on the misquote from earlier in the year, which Gholston later clarified that these were schools he would have visited if he didn't allready commit to State. There was huge UM lean to this article IMHO, as his rankings are quite different than other sources. Does this guy get paid by the UM athletic department?

lives on!!!!

I sent the idiot an e-mail asking if he did any followup after the first story. Suggested that this type of journalism is why many do not read their papers anymore. Haven't got any reply yet.

I sent him something too. This kind of reporting just makes MSU look bad. I can't wait for one of those recruits from Michigan that he listed that commited to scUM decommits.

The more I hear about G, the more I like. Sounds like he's got it all together. I've never owned an MSU jersey in my life. I just may consider it here...

You really surprised? The Detroit Rags have been nothng but reading pieces for UM fans for over 20 years. Nothing will change that now. It is just amazing to me that so many people still feel that the snews and freep are still non-biased when it comes to college sports in michigan.

I believe this is Big Will's stat line from last night's game...

13 tackles, 2 sacks and a block punt.

Not sure. Just saw the stat line and put it on here.

I had heard he was going to play some LB, some DE this yr. But, until we see a story..we won't know.

Either way, that is a pretty big-time stat line.

Doesn't a lawyer know how to do nuance? Read today's FREEP and you may be taking back your unhinged comment....
