All these people who had the opportunity to be classy when the kid backed out of a stomach churning program and fell for the swooning of a NC contender! Lost opportunity, and their true natures revealed...

Choke on it! Begin to sing the praises of Keith Nichol.

They didn't take it down because of that. They took it down because Paul K was irresponsible. Gary Nichol was pissed off at Paul for running that story without doing his homework to verify the validity of it.

Also, Paul made some serious errors in that story. First, he stated that Cousins and Foles were informed on FRIDAY that KN had committed. Rexrode contacted the Cousins family and they stated that Cousins had not been told anything about KN. They flat out denied Paul K's statement. The other thing with this is that KN had not yet been released by OU on Friday. This would mean that Paul K is alleging recruiting violations by MSU. It would also mean that Paul K is essentially calling Gary and Keith Nichol liars because they were making the news circuits last weekend and stating that Keith had yet to make a decision.

Bottom line: Paul K completely ****ed up in going with that story because it was erroneous on so many different levels.

He is taking this out on Natt. Notice how he didn't go after you or any of the other SpartanMag posters that chose to reveal the same thing you and Natt did in their subject lines on that message board. Anyone can click onto that site and read the subject lines.

There is nothing wrong with paraphrasing news stories. Paraphrasing threads is a different story, but not news.

You are correct. Foles/Cousins/Nichol will have 3 years to finish 3 years of remaining eligibility when Maxwell arrives as a true frosh. Maxwell will redshirt that year and will be added to the depth chart year two as a redshirt freshman (4 years to finish up 4 years of eligibility).

Maxwell will be the favorite to start his last two years but will have a chance to compete for playing time prior to that.

The potential of Nichol coming to MSU has no bearing on Maxwell.

I would bet it's even a higher precentage than that. I joined this message board less than a year ago, and see his name mentioned all the time, but still have no idea what the whole story is.

Did he give a verbal to us and then back out or something? Anybody care to briefly describe what happened?

You're right... it's less than that. I asked my roommate (who's a sports fan) if he remembered Keith Nichol, and he only vaguely remembered the name.

Yeah, gave us a verbal (while JLS was HC), then JLS was fired, KN said he'd stay at MSU, but then bailed to go to OU.

His high school tape is as good as you'll see from any QB, and he was an absolute stud at powerhouse Lowell. Elite 11, 4 star (could've been a 5 star but was a bit too small), you name it.

Big recruit. Big get (if true) for MD and MSU.

Very similar to Stanton, only a little smaller but a little bit better arm.

the thing with MSU fans is a lot feel like he back stabbed the program. I can see that only because he said "MSU fans don't need to worry i'm going to MSU" then gave his verbal to Oklahoma like 3 days later.

Truth be told he was 17, he went out there with his dad, got sweet talked and thought he'd be the star QB at a tradition loaded big name school and took it. It didn't work out, he's coming back. As long as this doesn't effect Maxwell (which it really doesn't) I'm happy because it will make the 3 horse race between Nicole, Foles, and Cousins, really interesting to watch.

edit:
From what i've seen he's also a better runner then Stanton was. Doesn't run like a chicken with his head cut off. Although I still think Stanton was a vastly underrated passer. He had receivers who dropped more passes in a game then some teams do in a season.

Nichol curing his stupidity, so I'd take him back so long as he helps us win.

I was shocked by his running ability on his senior highlight tape! I knew he could run, but his vision and cutback ability rival many running backs. I was stunned. Not the speed of a back, but the vision and cutback ability for sure.

Nichol will add good depth to the position, nice back-up/change of pace QB.

This is great news I expect an awesome position battle going on next year that much talent at quarterback makes for better backups if our starter goes down they will all be top notch qbs who know the system and I stand by Dantonio with this decision.

Yeah from watching this kids film he looks really talented and if he stayed true to his commitment then he would be the starter for sure but all kids make mistakes and if he is truly going to be a spartan then more power to him taking us to the promise land ie rosebowwwllll

I have that sneeking suspicion that everybody may be putting the cart before the horse here. Everything seems really strange over at the Mag, and they have gone completely silent on the KN front since Comp posted late last night.

I'm not saying that Keith will not be a Spartan, but I am pretty sure that saying this was a "done deal" is not entirely accurate...

And, FWIW, I think Foles would give KN a run for his money in 09, so let's hope that Nick sticks around if indeed Nichol ends up in EL.

competition will bring the best one to the top, and unlike slappy (who favoured reaves over stanton), D and co. wont screw this up.

This is why Michigan-Ann Arbor made a play for Keith. dickrod sees KN as the missing link from his offense being running back playing qb to being more mainstream (qb can run).

they are trying to get KN, but they lack the work ethic of .
