The newest Spartan, Patrick White, reportedly also got serious 4-star consideration, but with the WR position being so deep this year, he was just on the outside. Look for White to be a 5.7 rated 3-star recruit. It is possible that White will change from a wide receiver to Athlete designation in the next rankings. White will also have plenty of opportunities to show he belongs higher this fall for Pickerington Central High School.

From Crabtree, the guy basically in charge of the rankings:
-Pat White took a while to get going with the offers and that's probably because his film doesn't just flat out blow you away. He's a guy you have to see in person to appreciate. He's a 5.7.

Wonder if he'll get the ATH designation and a bump next time around.

Well, when you're rated against a different peer group you might look better. There are a lot of highly rated ATHs though. Seems like more now than ever.

for the ranking, yets, but isnt the rivals ranking (5.7) based solely on his abilities, not as his abilities rated against his peers?

Yea, I thought he'd get a bump in the position rankings. A 5.7 is a 5.7, but that might make him the #25 ATH as opposed to the 50 somethingeth WR. Just looks cool to see that. (I think the top 45 WRs were 4* or better, but only the top 24 RBs were, for example)
What I was saying was that being changed to ATH could move him up a notch on the RR, just as he's re-evaluated from an overall athletic perspective rather than focusing on the aspects that would make him an top-notch WR.

Really good AMP video up of White. A couple of nice highlights they didn't have the first time.

I don't know about "good" picture. Definitely shows that he's got a lot to work on.

I can appreciate that he's looking downfield at what plays he can make, but that's something that he's going to have to unlearn at the next level. You gotta be focused on the ball until you catch it.

I won't expect they'll figure that one out until fall 2009.

It is one picture. Maybe there was a hot chick on the sideline! haha. Regardless, a split second shot.

AA may have a point here. Perhaps the staff was a bit too hasty in extending an offer.

Wow, great video of his first game on rivals. Two finger tip grabs, one for a TD, one ruled out of bounds. Dude can WR or CB. Treadwell is going to fight Barnett for this kid.

Good article on Pat White's first game. One game, one story, but it ain't too shabby.
Pickerington Central 23, Upper Arlington 6 (Weekend updates)
Good kid with what looks like some good athletic ability and he apears to be a student of the game. Love it!
