While I'm happy he chose to come here, you must explain your logic to me.
How in the world do you know he is better, b/c one is from Lansing?
b/c one verballed to Wisc.?
You really need to explain why you are convinced that he is better than Mathais

Two things
These guys are starting to commit instantly and comment how excited they are about the talent in this class and how they want to be part of it.
Second, Reynolds was at the Nike camp in Wixom and was the #1 OL there. Dominating is the word

Mathias plays high school in the Tri-Valley Conference not exactly a high school football mecca. I am from the area and have followed high school football in that area. My brother played for Saginaw Nouvel Catholic Central and played the conferences best teams every year in districts. He was on an awful team in an awful conference which = awful competition. Maybe he will be ok, but I was not that impressed when I seen him and I do not think so.

I can live with that. The only problem is you say Mathias played against weak comp. but you never actually say you saw Reynolds play. He could be playing tougher comp (which he is) but not doing as well

It wasn't a Nike camp. It was pretty much a Metro Detroit camp, with some players scattered from other parts of the state. It didn't represent the best o-lineman in the state. Not trying to knock him, just trying not to inflate the information.

Thanks. I looked again and it is listed as an Elite Combine covered by MichiganPreps.

i am very excited about this pick up. With the coaching he will recieve he will be a good player for State. I doubt he will ever be a all league type of a player, but i could care less. Just as long as he is consitent, then i am fine with it. State loses a lot of their offensive line in the next few years, so i think we will probably see 1-2 more o-line recruits.

ok this might be a noob question, but does a players scout or rivals star rating go up or down during their senior year? i know these kids are still juniors and are ranked pretty high, but how often do their star ratings go up or down by the time they graduate?

I hate to rain on the parade. I welcome the kid and I trust
I can't help but look at some of his photos. Isn't it easier to put on weight than it is to take it off? I am concerned that if this kid isn't serious about football 365 days a year he is going to get heavier and slower. The huge heavy lineman we've recruited over the past 15 years haven't really ended up starting. Its the tall big framed men that grown until they are upper classmen that prove best. Like I am an expert?
What about the fact that the best offer he had came from MSU. Besides us it was between the MAC and Indiana?
All that said he did get a good report from JC and PK.

Welcome aboard Micajah!!

OL guys take the longest to transition from the high school game to the college game. Give him a year or two (depending on if he redshirts) and i think then he will show great improvements

I would say an easy way for Reynolds to be better than Mathais is Reynolds will be playing OG and Mathais will be playing OT. He wont have to worry about speed from the outside as Mathais will have to.

He didn't camp anywhere else. Most OLs get their offers at camp

Don't even ask me to try to find it, but I read somewhere that they thought his weight was a good thing. I guess he doesn't have great speed, but he's adequate and does so with the weight already on. Other guys they wonder about how they will react when they add weight to their frame. This could have been a total homer article or maybe some true football guys can shed some light, but that's what I saw once. Not sure if that helps or not. All that being said, I'd hope he could shed a few pounds of what appears to be baby fat and tighten up, maybe even get a little quicker in the process.

that's really a faulty statement
the whole thing with weight depends on the person. Miller,ro-mart and several other current or former starters came in here heavy and slimmed down to play great football at msu.
then several have come in as lighter projects and where never able to gain enough solid weight to really contribute.
micajah would certainly have more offers if he decided to drag his recruitment on and attend more camps.
most schools perfer to see o-linemen camp before they offer, micajah had several MAC offers and an IU offer before attending a single camp and had high interest from schools like minny, illini, cincy and others

he's very agile for his weight and pulls very well. the kids 6'5" and 317lbs of course he's going to mature some more muscle and in the process shed some baby fat over the next year or so.
Mannie will easilly get him down around 305lbs

It's not like he has to lose a lot of weight, 10 pounds max, and if he's strong and moving well all he needs to do is get some conditioning in. I wouldn't worry about a 315 lb kid who is said to move well.
As far as offers it's still relatively early, everyone is still trying to nail down the 4 & 5 star kids. This kid could also end up being a 4 star kid by the time his Sr. year is over.
