I can't help but look at some of his photos. Isn't it easier to put on weight than it is to take it off? I am concerned that if this kid isn't serious about football 365 days a year he is going to get heavier and slower. The huge heavy lineman we've recruited over the past 15 years haven't really ended up starting. Its the tall big framed men that grown until they are upper classmen that prove best. Like I am an expert?
What about the fact that the best offer he had came from MSU. Besides us it was between the MAC and Indiana?
All that said he did get a good report from JC and PK.

3 things: Players can be fat and become skinny, or vice versa pretty easy at this level. Foreman was a 310 pound overweight junior, then a 280 pound senior that needed to put weight on. Both players work out, it depends on core athleticism, the guys who are already huge and are still athletic are ranked highest because they've proven they can handle the weight. That's the risk with overweight and slow/skinny and fast people, they might not be when at their real playing weights. And third - multiple B10 offers at this point is actually really good. So don't minimize his accomplishments.

No offense, but 1 good olineman on a bad team will not all of a sudden get them more wins and help the offense average more points. Dont knock the offensive lineman just because the rest of his team was bad. Lineman don't have game changing capabilities that skill players possess.

New video with him and Hondo. Just watch it, it's good.
Welcome to Hondo's House
What a well spoken young man. Great character kid!! He might enroll early he said too. Also knows that he needs to work on conditioning, which is great. After watching this video I am glad he is apart of the spartan family.

i'm going to say something. i had a chance to meet this kid very breifly, before he had gotten an offer from MSU. now i've talked to other recruits, and by far this kid was more polite and nice than any of them. he didnt act like he had some ego or something, he was actually willing to have a conversation. i asked him what schools he was looking into and he told me...i didnt want to bring up MSU because he didnt have an offer from us at the time but the schools he told me that had contacted him were pretty good schools. i hoped so badly that Dantonio would offer him a scholarship, and sure enough a few days later he did. MSU will NOT regret having this kid as a student-athlete here at MSU. he is a class act and i wish nothing but the best for him. i will be sure to cheer for him as hard as i can all his years here.

That was my first thought, makes the kid look kind of small
Easy to see from this video that this is another quality person. I love the way coach D is recruiting.

Well-spoken, intelligent, a good citizen, and a good football player. This seems like the kind of kid that will make us all proud on many levels.

I'm happy to see a good recruit in the fold like Mr. Reynolds. From my snooping around, including some of the nice comments I have read here, it sounds like he's a great guy to have for the program.
I am a little confused about some of the posters comments about his weight. What does that matter to you or anyone else? Our staff is excellent, and I have no concerns about them providing the proper nutrition and dietary program for him to keep his weight in a target area for his best performance. You/we need to realize that the staff recognizes these matters and that they are focused on getting the most out of the players they recruit. The staff is making an investment in a recruit/player (once they sign) for the betterment of the program. And the players have the personal motivation to keep things in check to optimize their performance to gain playing time. Playing time means potentially bigger and better things in the future for them, so they have motivation too. It's a win-win thing.

yes, Hondo is a large man.
and Matt Beard was a great person.
Character is huge for this position, as you are talking about the most grueling place to play. Reminds me of the non-character of a player, I believe it was Kevin Gogan, a plain mean SOB who once funded a college road trip of the west by robbing people along the way...

Micajah is already tall @ 6' 5" with a very large frame and could even grow taller since he is still only 17 yrs. old ! When he gets on campus he will be at the training table (controlled calories) and have Strength & Conditioning Coach Ken Mannie working with him. Mannie will probably take him down to between 285 and 295 lbs. and then build him back up to over 300 lbs. of muscle. By the time he is a RS Soph he should be a huge force on the OL !

I hope so.
I just can not recall the names, but there where some real HUGE OL recruits that never panned out. One was a monster. So big ledged is he broke the top bunk in the dorm. Nicest kid around. Just no motivation and he got slow and fast. The other was from Lansing. Looked like this kid in build. I am glad to read he is 6-5, if that is legit. I think the other kid from lansing was like 6-2 and had a smilar looking build. Never saw the field.

a little known thing to probably many on the board...a huge reason that this Spartan team will be successful and able to compete with every other D-1 team is because of Coach Mannie. the guy is intense as hell and has good values. he needs more credit coming his way but i have no doubt in my mind that he can take any of our recruits and mold them so that they will be the best athlete they can.
