Updated Scout Rankings
FWIW
#114 Chris Norman
#134 Edwin Baker
#261 Larry Caper
Patrick White #100 for WR
Blake Treadwell #5 for C
Larry Caper # 31 for RB
Andrew Maxwell #45 for QB
Edwin Baker #16 for RB
Donald Spencer #95 for WR
Chris Norman #7 for SLB
Solid all away around right now. The only thing i dont understand is Maxwell being so low after all of the solid workouts and camps this summer

Rankings are a joke...at one point, I thought MSU had 2 RB commits that were both top 15 at their position....now we don't have a single one in the top 15.
Anyway, I thought the RCMB experts determined that Scout was more accurate for Football, and Rivals for Basketball....or do I have it switched around??
Regardless of where MSU recruites end up in the "rankings", this class already is a major step forward for our program!

you have it backwards. Msu gets plenty of hoops love on there.
MSU football recruits will never get their due on scout as long as tom beaver has influence over the mid-west region.

The list lost all credibility with me when I saw Maxwell listed as the 45th QB.

From what I can glean on Scout, there are a couple issues everyone has with their rankings.
1. Tom Beaver is the UM guy there (along with Sam Webb), and they have a lot of pull on rankings in Michigan (I believe). Beaver is basically the definition of a UM drone who rips on all things MSU.
2. Allen Trieu is another Midwest guy there, and from all I can tell, he is VERY UM friendly. He is the one who broke stories about Norman looking to take visits...and then had to run a story stating that Norman was solid to MSU after the uproar. (Trieu also makes a list of top Michigan prospects, and he now has Teric Jones ahead of Caper. In March, before either committed, he had Caper #3 in the state, and Jones #9.)
3. Scout does not have good midwest recruiting connections. They mostly cover the South, West and East coasts.
This is why Scout's rankings are a joke. Let us put it this way to give an idea of how ignorant Scout is.....All the way until signing day of 07/08 (and still I believe), they had Tyler Hoover listed as a TIGHT END.
Just understand that all our commits are Plan A guys who want to be at MSU, and love the coaching staff. Scout can give them negative stars, and I am still loving this class.
Enough said.

They really do not have a clue do they?Baker is the real deal and if they cant see that then screw them.
If texas wanted him then he is good.Just because some other guys have had good camps does not automatically make proven players less than what they have already shown.

These rankings really don't mean anything. Before committing to MSU, Baker and Caper were rated as the #3 & #7 running backs in the nation, respectively. Then, without even playing one game, they have fallen this far down the list.
Obviously, these rankings are not really based on anything. Just note the offer list that Baker was piling up before coming to MSU and that should tell where he should really be on this list.

Wow. Now there are only 32 QBs in the country that are higher ranked than Maxwell. I guess that Elite 11 invite really opened their eyes.
Looks like just about every other Spartan verbal moved down though.

Pretty much. So if Maxwell wins the Elite 11 does that move him up a couple spots? Could be close

Bump one more 4 star to a 3 star and we're well on our way to a repeat of last year's class.
Good job Scout

Well it is obvious and every knows it so you can stop saying it. But it is still entertaining to see how Scout ranks the players in the midwest and how two major recruiting sites differ on so many players.

The thing that bugs me about the Scout Ranking is that ESPN uses them as well.
