Basically coming for an official on the 22nd. Bringing his family and all. Seems like he may commit on the visit if things go well or wait until the end of August.
Would love to see this kid in the Green & White....hope they can get a committment from him next week...

Why do you still have him listed as a DE prospect?

Because when we first heard about Hammock, a SpartanMag Mod said he took a ton of reps at DE.

And people assumed that is what we were recruiting him as.

Have to figure he's IU-bound with Barnett's commitment and all the quotes about wanting to play together. IU's kicking our ass in LB recruiting this year. 0-2, first with Gainer (who very likely would've gotten an offer) and now Hammock.

You can't say they beat us for him, we never offered him. Simple as that.

show me quotes where they talk about playing together. (you may very well be right but I havent noticed a quote like that in articles about either one of them)

Belly aching about gainer is pretty stupid, there was no guarrantee he'd ever get an offer

Funny thing OP, most people never said much about Denson, Rouse, and Misch. In fact most did not think they were nothing more than MAC talent when they committed. Rouse, Misch and Decker were all 2* recruits. Lets not act like we are stellar in talent depth. We can still get better at that position. I like Misch's heart but he is smaller for the position.

You don't get it. We are having a very good year in recruiting. In fact the best I can remember this early but we cannot lose a quality LB to IU.

Good point, BTW. Most of these guys will be in their 2nd or 3rd year. Not a lot of space for a new LB.

Here's an article from the Fort Wayne paper talking about Barnett's decision to verbal to IU,

Luers star set to be a Hoosier | The Journal Gazette

I speculated that he wanted immediate playing time, something that probably would not have occurred at MSU. IU loses a senior CB after this season and Barnett believes he can challenge for the job.

It also mentions Hammock, and he indicates that he has no favorite at this time, and that him verballing to MSU after his visit was pure speculation.

It seems like Barnett did not want to compete for a position. I wish the kid well, but I am not sure that is the type of guy we want here. I see four years of losing for him in the future.

As for Hammock, hopefully he wants to be part of a great lb group that we will have in the next couple of years. I know his brother is on the Minnesota staff, are they a serious contender for him?

Actually that's exactly what we can afford to do. Quit worrying about what their frigging star level was in high school.
