Why can't we lose a guy to IU? Why, because we have been that much better in the years this kid could remember? We were last really good in 99-01. This kid was 8 to 10 years old. He lives in Indiana. Maybe he is looking for some things the college can give him...maybe he likes their coaches more. Also, what NFL linebackers have we produced since Ike Reese and Mike Labinjo? (not exactly household names.)
Dorsey made a good point about people whining about losing kids to IU, saying they sound like conceited scUM fans wondering how they could lose guys like Fred SMith, Hoover, Baker, Caper and Norman to MSU. He is correct.

I'm not discounting Hammock at all, but why do you not like our LB depth? It will be great to have him, but at the same time, I believe we're actually building quality depth at the position.

Relax. Maybe we have not been "really good" since 99-01. When is the last time IU was "really good"? Valid point about looking about what a college can give him but when it comes to football, IU is behind MSU in my book no matter what you say. And I could really care less what Dorsey says.

Yep, I agree that we have a better program than IU in fb. But, you made my point for me...you think that that is the only reason we "can't lose a player to IU", because we have a better program? Let me ask you, why did Fred Smith choose MSU over UM. Guess what, they have a better program than us in FB, but he chose us; why, because we are a better fit. IU may be a better fit for hammock.

We haven't yet, and we probably won't...but, many on here were stating that we "can't lose players to IU", in regards to Barnett, and Gainer (who we never offered of course.) My point is, this idea is not clearly thought out.

Doesn't plan on making a commitment on the tour and finishes with us tomorrow.
A little more info on the boards but that is premium.

Talks about depth chart is a big factor.
Who knows how MSU compares to Indiana and Minny for LB depth? We brought a bunch in '08 class. He appears to be a MLB...Jones can be outside...I believe we got a couple MLB '08 recruits in Rolf/Williams.

I don't think he has a clue as to wear he is going yet, but my hunch
is that he'll be here. Unless someone else jumps in with an offer, I think we wait until September to hear from the guy.

There are only so many slots, if he waits too long he will be left out. Oh well, I trust that Dantonio and the staff are on the right track and if he bolts to IU or somewhere else, he will get to lose to us for the next few years. I am a long time MSU fan and I can't remember us ever being in this recruiting position so early in the process. Good times are ahead.

That's an interesting development if true. I read an article on the on the IU site that indicated the Hoosiers may have run out of scholarships, and the fourteen verbals they received are all they have available.
From what I understand this kid is earmarked for the MIKE position. I wonder if part of the selling point to come to MSU was the coaches telling him Jones would slide back to the outside if he has the ability to come in and start as a freshman.

so much for that keen recruiting sense of yours, you never did find those quotes either.
It's 1-0 pal,

I have a feeling Lawrence Barnett may decommit and head to MSU also. I could be wrong, but I hope I'm right. I guess it depends on what wants to do further as far as DB recruiting goes. If is satisified with how things are there, maybe Barnett doesn't get a chance to become a . If there's room for him and he wants to come to MSU, that would be fantastic. I'm sure Hammock will be working on him until signing day. An MSU win in Bloomington will hopefully sway Barnett to join the Green and White.
