If he's anything like his older brother, Richard Newsome, then I say offer him. He'll be at camp this week.

Scholarship offers for DB's may be drying up with Patrick White CB, and Dana Dixon S, already committed. If Dantonio offers another DB it will probably be a true CB not a S, since there are also 2 S's coming in the 2008 class (Burrell and Trawick}.

Very good point. How many times have we been burned by "soft corners?" Notre Dame and scUM comebacks still loom in my head. Some of the flops have been because of poor JLS defensive schemes, but I can't remember the last time we had true lock-down corners (2 stud DE's would certainly help that too.)

If we could get 4* DE Davon Custis out of Columbus, OH that would be a real coup. So far OSU hasn't offered him (they may be about out of scholarships). He is 6' 5" tall, 220 lbs. and runs a 4.58 forty. Don't forget about DE Tyler Hoover from this year's recruiting class. He enrolled in Jan. and played Spring ball. He is up to about 275 lbs. @ 6' 7" and still runs the forty in the 4.6 second range. He should be in the DL rotation this fall @ stongside DE and could develop into a pass rusher and with his size be solid against the run. He is a high motor player with a "mean streak", ideal for a DL.
