For those of you who don't already know, he's the younger brother of MSU class of 2008 football signee WR Myles White and MSU class of 2008 track signee/football walk-on QB Mitchell White. Oh, and both of his parents are Spartans as well.

I'm not premium on Scout so I can't say what this article from MichiganVarsity says, but it's the most recent article linked on his profile:

Early word is that he is leaning out of state. Long way to go though...

4.71 seconds at 186 pounds? I'm concerned he'll lose even more speed when he bulks up.

Man, seems like he'd be a State lock...especially with our program becoming more and more appealing every day. I hope those specs are wrong...

I'm sure he is faster than that. His brothers are lightning fast, and look at the kid's stats. 4.71 is fast in high school, but if he is consistently putting up 50+ yard runs, he is not getting caught from behind...
The out of state comment was brought up by a mod over at Rivals a while ago, so it could be a different story now.
He is a stud, no doubt about it, and will be pursued by the best schools in the country. We have a great head start and a couple of very influential recruiters on our side, but I wouldn't call him a slam dunk by any means.

Anybody who saw this kid take it to the house in the state finals against Dakota can see he is waaaay faster than that listed time. Many times and height/weights are outdated fairly quickly with prospects so don't sweat it. There's a reason he will have his picks of schools in a couple years and . . . the kid loves MSU. I am sure he will look around at schools - as any kid should -- but i think that "out of state" line is more than a little overblown.

Tre we have been calling for years why recruits would go to U of M due to playing time.
We have landed 2 stud RBs this year in Caper and Baker. Now I know elite programs bring in studs every year. However Austin may want playing time.
In the end I think he goes to State but it isn't a slamdunk.
Also 4.71 is inaccurate. He runs a 4.44 40. That 4.71 was on a very slow track and I believe he didn't get a great jump.

Would be great to get this kid.
No slight against either of the older brothers, but Austin has the biggest upside of all of them. Was the best player on the field when Stevenson beat Franklin in last year's playoffs.

For him going to State:
Legacy, dad and twin older brothers play/played here
He's ridiculously good better than his bros, and he's one of the few guys who could beat out Caper and Baker.
For him not going to State:
He'll have to earn his way onto the field, as the RB depth chart is stacked.
Basically, there is no way he ends up in the Big Ten if he doesn't go to State.

from what i've heard he could be a high 4 maybe even 5 star RB. He's going to be a stud wherever he goes.

I figured the forty time had to be off for us to offer a kid this early. You know he has to be a stud to get a very early offer from a school that values running backs tremendously.

Not necessarily. When was he timed? Was it his freshman or sophomore year? That could make a difference because a 14 or 15 year old is still developing. He will grow taller and stronger and that should help improve his numbers by the time he gets timed at camps next year. Remember the kid is only going into his junior year.

The thing is, anywhere he goes that will be worthy of his talents will have stacked backfields. Ohio State, USC, LSU, Florida, they all bring in top running backs every single year.
Also, look at it this way. Let's say he comes to MSU. He redshirts in 2010 so in 2011 he's a redshirt freshman. Let's look at the scholarship chart ahead of him by that time.
Seniors
Anderson
Leggett
Juniors
Ray
Winston
Sophomores
Baker
Caper
by his sophomore year, Anderson and Leggett will be out of eligibility. Ray and/or Winston will probably be at a different position. By his junior and senior seasons, he will be getting LOTS of carries, however, he will get worked into the offense in smaller doses early on.

If he is a year behind Baker and Caper and then redshirts, they will be juniors when he is a redshirt freshman. It should be his world by his junior year!

your assuming both do not redshirt.
Caper will probably redshirt, he won't get in with Anderson, Jimmerson, Legett, and Ray all having a whole years worth in the offense.
I know he is gifted, but one of these cats will be redshirted just because there is no room. I think Caper ends up with the redshirt.

Agreed. One is gonna get pretty significant time from day one and the other will redshirt. No idea which one that will be though.
In theory, I'd like one of Baker/Caper to redshirt and then have White redshirt.
