Well, we know that he's been camping at MSU. I'm not saying that camps are the only way to learn, just that you hope he's not just hanging with his friends and family all summer instead.

yet MD prides himself on family and community, but when a recruit wants to do that in the summer of his junior/senior year it is frowned upon.
We praise MD for family atmosphere, but dump a recruit who wants to do just that.
He will learn technique and the playbook. On field practice is for technique, study film is for playbook, classes are for playbook. Its the reason we pay so many assistants money

The square is seldom if ever cool ... He is "not with it", that is, he doesn't know "whats happening." But if he manages to figure it out, he moves up a notch to "hip." And if he can bring himself to approve of what's happening, he becomes "groovy." And after that, with much luck and perseverence, he can rise to the rank of "cool."

This is absolutely absurd. Why do you think going to camps and spending time with his family are mutually exclusive?

listen, I'm gonna go from a fathers angle.
My son verbals to MD, he can either spend this summer away from home going to camps or at home with me and his mom. Sorry, I'm gonna say stay home and relax with the fam. There is nothing at those camps that he can't learn later in life

This is one of the most pointless arguments I've seen on these boards and that is really saying something.
What information do you have concerning how Caper is spending his summer? No one is trashing him for not attending camps all over the country. In fact, I haven't seen anyone trashing him at all. There were a few questions about why he has been dropping in the rankings and if it was related to not camping? That is all. It's very likely that he is working hard and continuing to improve, in addition to spending lots of quality time with his family/friends (so let's not get carried away worrying about whether the Caper family is spending enough quality time together this summer).

the argument is why his ranking dropped, someone suggested its b/c he didn't attend camps, I came up with a reason as to why he might not be attending camps.
never once did I say it was a fact that that was the reason, I just laid out a possibility and now I'm getting ripped for saying a kid might want to spend time with his family and not attend national camps with Rivals and Scout writers to further his advancement on their websites (like some recruits try to do)

It was most irritating when you said that MD and/or Spartan fans (I'm not sure which you were referring to) hold family values in high regard, and then the same people frown upon an athlete spending time with his family.
Life is all about balance. No one has to go to every camp, but you can spend time with family and go to some camps. The two are not mutually exclusive.

1. nobody is ever sure what I'm refering to (that includes me) - I'm very scatter brained
2. agree with the second point completely. Once again, I KNOW NOTHING. Just offering an explanation as to why his stock and ranking MIGHT HAVE dropped

I don't care if he drops to a . It means nothing. In fact, our entire class could drop stars and it's not going to make any difference. How many stars they have next to their name won't matter when they walk out on the field in a couple of years. MSU knows he's a heck of a football player, he knows it and that's all that matters. I hope he's spending his summer close to home and training like a gym rat rather than traveling around the midwest showing off his skills to other coaches.

This has to be the worst argument I have ever read on this message board. As a former athlete I can assure you that it is very easy to attend 1 or 2 camps in a summer and still have PLENTY of quality time to spend with your friends and family.

This is an extremely talented class from MI. The top 10 kids being 4* or better!? The top 27 being 3* or better? That's pretty damn good (though the ROJO year was ridiculous. . .the #13 player in the state was a 4* guy )
MI seems to really have increased its talent output in recent years.
