Got it. I thought the other poster that wrote Oregon was joking (a nod towards the earlier recruitment of Mr. Bolden).
Well, given that, uM fans have to be freakin' just a bit. I'm not sure about anyone else but watching this circus unfold in AA is providing lots of entertainment for me. Obssessed? I don't think so, but it is fun. I am really hoping for an excuse laden seasoned for uM ending in a 5-7 record. That way, they can justify keeping Coach Rod around for another season yet miss out on another bowl season. I won't apologize for my disdain for those down by dar'

He has not cut Michigan. He said they would still be in his top 5. He has just moved UO and MSU to the top.

I have to believe the football recruiting is the direct result of the multiple schedulings and then drummings of UofM over the last few years. Have to take advantage of that kind of pub while you have it.

Have to agree.
The Cass Tech kids seem to love playing the game of moving schools up and down. If this kid really is interested in State, then great. If this is just a game to get attention and have your name on all the boards then who cares. Reminds me of the WCampbell b.s.- decommitt and waste every ones time when all along he was going to scUM. I thought the schools that spent money on getting him to campus blew it. He had no interest other than free trips and that was pretty much a joke.
Agreed on the Glenville pipeline- that is one that we definitely have to become a solid number two and occassionally steal a head to head battle with OSU.

Don't get too excited on this one, fellas. I'm sure MD and Enos are recruiting the hell out of this kid, but if SCum picks up the attention at all they'll be right back at the top. He said in Hemdolt's article that Oregon came out of nowhere. If that happened and they're at the top of his list? Sounds like flavor of the month to me. This is way different than Gholston's recruitment, IMO.

I agree guys. Hopefully MD & co will keep their foot on the gas and close the deal. He and Hicks would be a huge pair of lockdowns.

And while he may have offers from a lot of the big guys, I can't imagine Florida (with 4 DBs already committed for 2010) or FSU (2 DBs committed, lead for 5 star LaMarcus Joyner) or others still honoring those offers that were probably extended months ago.
Is my gut feeling wrong here?

Jim Tressel has called the best evaluator of defensive secondary talent that he has ever seen. If we offer a kid at the DB spot he is going to be good, real good.

The quote was that was the best evaluator of defensive talent, period, not just DBs.
Thought you'd appreciate the clarification

I'm with the "I'll believe it when I see it" gang. If/when a Cass Tech recruit chooses MSU over a um offer it will be somewhat of a surprise and another nail in the coffin.

Boy....Hicks & Mathis + Gholson & Olaniyan = one hell of a pass defense over the next few years. Hope we can get it done here.

BTW, the kid is friends with Will Gholston. The UM fan that broke the Gholston commitment to MSU on mgoblog said that Gholston had posted something on Mathis's facebook wall about joining him in East Lansing.
Not saying Gholston is playing a HUGE part in this, but it certainly can't hurt us.
Breaking through that Cass Tech pipeline would be BIG.

I don't see why the Cass Tech thing is such a big deal. If the people at Cass Tech send all top prospect to UM, then Mathis would not come out and say MSU is a co-leader. Obviously UM (or the Cass Tech people) is not doing enough to make him jump at the offer.

Yeah if I recall correctly, Gholston mentioned something about trying to get a 'CB friend' to join him at MSU, shortly after he announced his own commitment. From what I understand Will is really trying to get some of the bigger names still out there to join him.

I still have a little disbelief over this. It's hard to believe that a kid who refers William Campbell as his big bro would not go to UofM.

I think Dior is football intelligent and that is why he is thinking MSU over UM. I mean, look at what Michigan put on the field last year and what they'll put on the field this year. I wouldn't sign up for that!
If Mathis and Olaniyan commit to MSU and combine with our other Detroit boys, we will need a nickname for sure. Right now I really like "The D Fence"

I agree. Something about Dior's comments make me think he is different. It sounds like, "I don't care about a pipeline, this is my life and I like what these teams are doing on the field and in recruiting me." The kid just sounds like his own man and I like that, could be a good sign.
