Isn't the Cass Tech head coach on the scUM payroll? It's his life mission to send his guys there.

Dior Mathis' favorite team growing up was Miami. He was going to commit there when he got offered, but now he has a top two of UM and Miami.

Give it time my friend. DickRod will continue to look like a joke, Coach D will continue to hit Detroit hard and open eyes and we look better as the years go by. At some point the kids may want to play for us even though their coach is trying to send them elsewhere.

For all his recent pro MSU comments in the Detroit media (regarding his respect for Dan Enos and his recruiting efforts) Thomas Wilcher still does all he can to paint the rosiest picture he can to persuade his Cass Tech kids to go to um, where he played RB in the 80s.
The fact that Dior was going to commit to Miami but has not done so - arguably becuase um offered -- does nothing but support that fact.
Hopefully someday soon the Cass Tech Ath Director figures out that Wilcher cant coach worth crap.

This is exactly it. Cass Tech is the most talented team in the state EVERY YEAR, yet they never win more than a playoff game or two.

He is sending his kids to Major D1 schools and as for as much as I have heard his kids are staying out of trouble. I think the AthDir is just fine with everything.
That being said, if Big Will commits to UM, Dior will be right behind him.

Thomas Wilcher played at UM for Bo, so it is no real surprise that he would push his kids towards them over MSU.

Interesting. I don't expect him to give MSU much of a chance, but it's good to see he's at least willing to show up. We shouldn't read too much into this though because even Will Campbell visited a few times last year and was never really interested.

Well, I don't think coaches Dantonio and Enos have any desire to just waste their time, so let's see how it plays out.
Wasn't that long ago that OLSM was totally a UM place too, and now that's turned around and we've gotten a few guys from there recently.

but will that Cass Tech kid have a UM offer?
I just don't see us pulling a kid out of Cass with a UM offer

eventually. maybe not right away but the presence of this coaching staff in detroit will start turning heads. as long as we perform on the field and have our coaching staff in place for years to come then i think we will even if dickrod gets fired.

Not likely. Other factors would be in the mix. How does he get along with Admin? What is relationship with the palyers? I guess you never heard of Cass Tech coach in the 70's (Dick Cole). It took Admin years to get rid of him and he got along with no one and didn't win any City Championships!

This kid will not come here. He has already said that he will be selecting from a group of 10 finalists which include the likes of LSU, Florida, USC, FSU, Alabama, Notre Dame etc.
I think this kid wants to go to a big name university and it sounds like he wants to go out of state IMO.

While I don't think he's going to MSU either, you left out the fact that MSU was one of the 10 finalists.... and he says that the 10 finalists are all sort of even.
The four you left out are...Michigan, OSU, MSU, and Miami FWIW

i would have to say that Miami is in the lead. so is he already on the roster for the All-American game? kind of early for all of that.

I love this from both fanbases. UM fans love Wilcher. MSU fans love Gholston's coach. Gee, I wonder why?

so, in theory, he could go out and perform sub par and drop his rating to a 2 star and he would still be invited to the game.
This seems a little shady to me. "Well, just tell us you will announce at the game and we will guarantee you a spot"
ps -- this isn't a Dior thing, it just seems shady all around
