Has a thread on BP now:

Split opinions there. Majority thinks he's too slow for WR and might get a look at TE.

This kid would be a perfect fit for us. He could grow into a TE but it suspect he would be a big possesion receiver. Similar to Spencer this year. Not a burner but use his size to bump off many a CB.

Wide receiver Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) is one of the top prospects in the Midwest. He is being recruited by schools all over the country and has close to two dozen scholarship offers.

The 6-foot-4 and 205-pound Prater moved into the starting lineup at the beginning of his sophomore season. He caught close to 25 passes and scored twice that season.

Prater caught 60 passes for 948 yards his junior season. He averaged 15.8 yards per catch and scored nine times.

Prater's scholarship offer includes Illinois, Northwestern, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Penn State, Michigan, Arizona, Arkansas, Iowa, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Minnesota, Purdue, Kansas, Nebraska, Cal and Vanderbilt.

In addition to the schools that have offered, Prater said he is also interested in Ohio State, Tennessee, Georgia and Alabama.

"At this point I don't really have any favorites," Prater said. "I might have a Top 10 in May."

Prater hopes to attend spring games at Illinois and Penn State. He also wants to check out Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Purdue, Arkansas and some SEC schools.

One of the top prospects in the Midwest, wide receiver Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West), continues to see his list of scholarship offers grow. He hopes to cut the list down to a manageable number in the next few weeks.

"I believe I have exactly 30 offers now," Prater said. "I'm still narrowing it down a little. I would like to have it down to 10 by the end of May. Then I'll begin to get it down to five."

Prater's list of offers includes Illinois, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, USC, Michigan State, Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, Purdue, Colorado, Cal, Minnesota, Nebraska, Vanderbilt, Stanford, Northwestern and Kansas. USC and Colorado are his most recent offers.

Prater attended spring games at Illinois, Notre Dame and Oklahoma. He plans to visit Michigan near the end of May.

"I really liked Oklahoma a lot," Prater said. "Notre Dame and Illinois were nice too, but Oklahoma really blew me away."

The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder caught 60 passes for 948 yards during his junior season. He averaged 15.8 yards per reception and had nine touchdowns.

Prater is in no hurry to select a college. In fact he plans to go through the entire recruiting process.

"I'm still looking at all my options," Prater said. "I'll see what is up after my Michigan visit. I'm going to take my five official visits."

Seriously though, how many WR's can Michigan take.

Can D-Rod truly look him in the eye and tell him he is their top priority at WR when he has already netted 5 guys in the same class?

I'm more intrigued at why a top level WR recruit would even consider UM with DickRod at the helm. As a D1 head coach, Rod has only produced 2 NFL WR's: Chris Henry and Rasheed Marshall.

One of those players (Henry) is a thug and has been suspended by the NFL multiple times and the other (Marshall) is currently earning a paycheck in the AFL.

Quite a few. The current WR depth chart is very average, to say the least. Rodriguez has been quoted as saying he wants to dress eight (I think, either that or nine) WRs for every game. At outside WR, Greg Mathews and LaTerryal Savoy graduate this year and James Rogers will be a senior when the '10 class arrives. That leaves with Michigan with Junior Hemingway (redshirt sophomore) and Darryl Stonum (sophomore) as the only two sure-fire outside WR, though Je'Ron Stokes and Roy Roundtree might go outside. Of the '10 commits, Jeremy Jackson and Ricardo Miller are sure-fire outside guys, while I would assume one of the Drew Dileo/D.J Williamson/Jerald Robinson trio will wind up on defense. J. Robinson would be an outside guy if he doesn't get moved to defense. So, really, UM probably needs one more outside WR, though I don't think Prater will be that guy. Drake and Dileo are sure-fire slots (if Dileo doesn't go on D).

Where did it say that Rodriguez told Prater he was his top priority at WR?

Because they want go to school there? How does Ohio State land any big-time QBs like Terrelle Pryor when their last QB to do anything in the NFL was uh, yeah, about that? How does Penn State land any top QBs when Kerry Collins is their last QB to play in the NFL as a QB?

If you're good enough, they'll find you. Urban Meyer hadn't produced a big-time WR and still got Percy Harvin to commit to Florida and turned him into a first rounder. Pete Carroll's recent history with WRs is atrocious (though Damian Williams and Ronald Johnson will probably change that) yet he still lands beast receivers.

Wide receiver Kyle Prater (Hillside, Ill./Proviso West) has close to three dozen scholarship offers to sort through. USC, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Miami, Alabama, Boston College, Wisconsin, Colorado, Arizona, Michigan State, Northwestern, Nebraska and Vanderbilt are just some of the schools that have offered.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pounder, who caught 60 passes during his junior season, would like to soon trim his list to about 10 schools. Prater has visited Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Michigan, and Illinois -- all of which are likely to make the cut.

"I like Oklahoma," Prater said. "I like Michigan too. I went to the barbecue they had on Saturday (at the Big House). It was real nice. I have a strong interest in USC too. Tennessee is another one I like, and Miami. There are a few others too."

Prater has scholarship offers from all of the schools he mentioned.

However, after he trims his list Prater has no plans to make a quick decision on his final destination.

"I'm going to get it down to 10 schools sometime this month," he said. "I'm going to wait and take official visits. Not too many people take all five, but I'm going to try to take most of them or all of them."

Prater will be in Champaign, Ill., on Saturday attending the Nike Football Training Camp at the University of Illinois.

One of the group (Stonum, Jackson, Miller, Stokes, Roundtree) will probably make it. That will make three After all, Avant made it to the league!

Illinois/OU battle. Hopefully he looks at how poorly other Illinois athletes have fared when they've chosen to go to Norman.

The thought is a few might move to the secondary but still your right it is an unusually high amount of receivers.

What about the ones that went to Ill.? J/K. He's most likely not coming to state, and I agree with OU/Ill./USC as being the teams to beat for him.
