I don't even know why you guys are bothering with this thread.
Does anyone honestly think that we even need another RB? I don't see any room for one. Let alone another feature back. I consider us completely done at running back this year.

next yes, probably. there is a Michigan kid who is gonna be rated pretty high.
This year, no unless he is listed as a RB but MD wants him as a CB

Plans to take visits to Kentucky, Penn State, Michigan State, and Florida State before making his decision. Also considering Oregon.
No current leaders.

One thing is maybe coach has decided that the only RB's that are worth a damn are Caper ray baker and winston so he's bringing in some younger guys that can give us some more quality depth. Personally I'm happy with Hill for this class, go after Justice hayes of Grand Ledge for 2011 kids film is sick.

I think if you can grab a four star out of Georgia, you do it, just to establish the precedent.

I believe Hayes is from Grand Blanc.

Anderson has done a good job on special teams and Leggett would likely move to FB, IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if Anderson transferred after the season is over. Caper will likely become the starter this season and I would expect Baker to surpass Ray after this season. Once both Caper and Baker become more comfortable in the offense and with the speed at the college level they should be able to excel. I think the coaches are focused on Storm as a power back with speed that would get PT and compliment Caper and Baker in our offense.

I think this would be a great pickup. Storm's highlight film is very impressive and we need a back that has his combination of speed and power. Throughout most of his recruitment MSU has been in his top 5 along with PSU and FSU. I have heard that PSU is only after Marcus Lattimore at RB in this class, though this could change later in the season if they don't get him. FSU is currently after Lattimore and a few others, also heard that they might not accept Storm's commitment if he gave it, though that is just opinion from some noles' fans, because they have a similiar back. Oregon likely won't offer because they will likely have two RB commitments within the next month. The only two teams as of right now other that MSU are KU and UNC. Of those two teams UNC is the one to be concerned about. They don't run the ball much and seem to have just entered the mix. Hopefully, MSU can get both Mumphery and Storm out of Georgia. It would be nice to have a back like Johnson, just check out his highlight film. Also, he is a UA AA and ranked in the top 40 by ESPN (I know ESPN). Seems like a great player that would fit right in to MSU's offense.

outside of a couple of scholarships on certain guys, the rest of our open scholarships you take the best available player regardless of position. Dantonio did that late into the recruiting class last year and i believe he will do it again this year

that RB we lost to Bama last year (or year before?) is a punnisher
always cringe when I see him breaking off 15 yards runs up the middle

I think MD looked around this year and didn't see any Javon Ringers in the group.
You always look to improve the talent on the team, and I'm sure that's what he's doing. It doesn't matter how many guys you have already.

Ingram, I was thinking that all last year too. I would have been nice to see him spell Ringer for 10 carries a game and then this year it would be all him.

Wait a minute on that - Caper and Baker have bigtime talent, and Winston's looking legit. However RB's also have 2 very bad habits making us want to recruit more - 1. Getting injured. RB's get hurt, a lot. 2. Leave early(due in part to #1). So, in most cases the reverse of the QB rule of thumb applies - if you have 1 RB you have none, and 2 equal 1.
We have 6 RB's on the roster - Jimmerson, Ray, Leggett, Caper, Baker, Anderson, Winston. 1 is RSing, 2 are playing, 1 is a STer, 1 showed he could play at times. The other 2 need to find new positions or get used to only playing on ST's/never. I expect at least 1 of Ray/Anderson/Leggett to transfer - and this isn't an indictment of them, but only an expectation of seeking the best situation for themselves and high self confidence that they can be successful elsewhere.
That means -2 RB's from this years roster, and I wouldn't be surprised to see another change positions (Anderson a CB? Ray a CB? Leggett a FB or LB?) shortening the depth chart to 3. Suddenly you add Hill and Johnson cause they are pretty necessary. One of the starters(Caper/Winston tandem) and one could get carries as a true frosh. Give them a RS year and Storm could take over for Winston as a RS Soph giving him up to 3 years of bigtime PT.
Unless you are Auburn early 2000's stacked at RB's you always recruit more. And who the hell gets Caddy, Ronnie Brown, AND Brandon Jacobs. That was insane.

Well mostly him, I think that MD will try to avoid wearing down any backs like he did with Javon. But Ingram woulda been huge, could have been helpful vs. UGA last year, and helped us avoid so many early season hiccups this year.

Storm should see that Caper came in as a true freshman and is a starting RB. with a load of RBs on our roster. No reason he cannot do the same if he has the ability and confidence.

It would be kinda strange, and unexpected if we had a new starting freshman RB each year. Don't players normally get better with experience?

You know, it would have been nice, but they have to want to be , and you have to believe dad poisoned the well, or the kid didn't want to be part of building a winner, he wanted to win immediately and MSU just wasn't there yet.
That's going to happen for a little while yet, but long term and staff will turn it around. I really believe that a couple more classes will put MSU toward's the top of the BT.
