as long as he has a base of some decent speed than it shouldnt be too big of a problem. you can work on speed and techniques. i just want a guy who can catch the damn ball

new 2011 offer
MSU has offered New Baltimore Anchor Bay (MI) LB/S Taiwan Jones. Kid is raw, but 6'3 and 216-lbs and hasn't turned 16 yet. He palys running back and free safety but is probably a college linebacker. I have an interview with him which will be posted in the morning.

How the hell are kids not 16 yet as a junior in HS??? Same with Hicks...that is insanely young for a junior and let alone an athlete, usually they are old

probably because in DPS, if you can read at grade level and do simple algebra in 7th grade they bump you up to high school

Actually, Anchor Bay is not in DPS (and not even really that close). The reason why a student can be a junior and not be 16 yet is because in Michigan the cut-off date is December 1 - i.e., so long as a kid turns 5 by December 1 of the current school year he may begin kindergarten. In most states that cut-off date is September 1. So, because of that it is not uncommon for a kid to start their junior year at 15, senior year at 16 and freshman year in college at 17 (I did). All you need is a fall birthday. If a kid has a November 29th birthday (for example) he could get through his entire junior football season and only be 15 years old.

Agreed, I spent my first two weeks at MSU at the age of 17 without ever skipping a grade.
