A guy to look out for in the coming months is LB Lawrence Thomas. He is being thought about as the early #1 player in the state for 2011 and he could certainly be very similar to Chris Norman in a couple of ways.

Lists us as his only college choice at this point!

Not many 11 recruits in the database yet, but Cincinatti has already offered this QB, way to be Kelly.

Kelly offered that kid when he was a freshman, but he deserves it...Ohio State is supposedly very interested in him as well. He'll be a National top 50 player in 2011

I've heard that OSU might pass on Gardner just to get Miller into the fold early.

I would find it hard to believe that we would offer kids just finishing up their HS Sophmore years.

How awesome would it be to get the #1 in-state player 2 years in a row? Make it happen Coach D!

If Thomas is 6'3" and 215 as a sophomore. I guess we could easily see him grow into a defensive end/DPR by the time he hits a college campus.

Not disputing your sources, but I would suggest a bit of tempering of enthusiasm about a kid with that long to go. I remember many kids thought to be "UM locks", etc. when they hadn't even played their junior year yet and most of them didn't end up there. Charles Rogers for one, Dion Sims for another (I kid you not, two three years ago UM boards were saying the exact same thing about Sims you are saying about Thomas right now).

Not saying that you aren't correct but I doubt Dantonio leaves in the next three years.
Big M I think it is safe to say that if Carr was at U of M, Dion could have very likely ended up at U of M.
So if there is a coaching change before Lawrence decides then certainly that percentage could be void. But the kid is all about MSU and it is going to take a lot for that to change.

l love the fact that UM is recruiting a different type of player at some positions, like QB, TE, and WR. MSU should get the best TE in the state every year. Keep Les Miles away from UM.

It's not just Sims though. Kids like Rogers, Rojo, Allen, etc.
Again, you could very well be right, but there is so much time and so many variables for a kid that young.

In the fast pace age of recruiting though there may not be so much time. Crazy we say that about a kid that won't sign for two years.
But at this point last year we were talking about Bullough and he wound up committing a year and a half before he is supposed to sign.
Wouldn't be surprised at all to see this happen with Thomas.

IMO Carr would have been all over guys like Treadwell (if was not the coaches son at MSU), Maxwell, and Bollough.

How much of that has to do with guys like Sam Webb and Josh Hemholdt who think that ANY in-state player of note is a Michigan lock because "where else would he want to go?"
Those two have a history of raising expectations among the Wolverine fan base only to scramble to make up "cover your ass" excuses later when things don't work out (like all the "you can't have a successful class taking more than 6 in-state kids" crap this year).
