Ohio LB Lands Big Ten Offer

Posted by Bill Kurelic on Feb 19, 2009 at 4:24 pm

Warren (Ohio) Harding linebacker Davion Rogers, who plans to attend one of the Buckeyes' football camp sessions this summer, has landed his first scholarship offer.
The 6-foot-6 and 200-pound Rogers, who made 60 tackles during his junior season, received an offer from Michigan State today. Rogers is a talented athlete who will likely see his offer list grow steadily as he takes care of everything academically.
In addition to Michigan State, some of the other schools showing interest in Rogers include Ohio State, Michigan State, Colorado, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Baylor and Miami of Ohio.
Rogers has been a life-long Buckeye fan and has told Bucknuts.com that his entire family likes Ohio State.

Nice. OSU will probably not take him...same school as CL Rucker, so we got that. ANd, that is the same school as the Safety Mike Dorsey. Keep a nice "pipeline" to Warren.

Interesting prospect, can't see him at LB, can see him at DE in 3 years once he adds 30 pounds.

Rogers committed to WVU according to his coach.

Good pickup for them.

We will see, I think he had good potential although a little raw. 6'6 and the way he could run would have been a nice asset to have against the ever expanding spread in the Big 10.

Hopefully we can sneak Jayrone Elliot out of Ohio.

Well at our scrimmage, our spring game is next week.

Yeah we are a player, I saw him when I was in line for Subway on my way to the library and he is certainly is every bit of 6'4 that it says.

But yeah he was all smiles and seemed to be enjoying his visit. He said things at MSU were night and day compared to Michigan. What that means he only knows.

However he seemed to be high on his Michigan visit. I think he stays on the East Coast though. Either Maryland or West Virginia.

Didn't get dominated. We slow played Dorsey and WVU made a huge push while we were evaluating.

They were a packaged deal so they made the inroads with Dorsey and wound up with Rogers as well.

Not really, our non conference schedule is weak next year.

Montana State (First non D-1 school we have played) and then WMU and CMU in addition to ND.

Seems so.

Edit- or maybe not. I think the Beave might have jumped the gun yet again.

That scout slant does not seem to jive with an article Josh Helmholdt posted on Rivals on Friday night following his um visit and prior to his arrival in EL on Saturday . . .

Well Taylor Hill didn't have an offer from us when he left East Lansing so I am sure Dantonio wasn't hurt on losing him.

Hill was so physically unimpressive it's no suprise he didn't fit the mold of an MSU LB. RR sure gobbled him up quick though.
