Tony performed outstanding at PSU Nike camp. Outperforming other 'highly ranked' players.

Best WR at camp.

Anyone we're familiar with? I just don't have any idea how to find out who else was there.

He was awesome at our 7-7 in Columbus at both WR and safety. This is a really good offer. Over time, as he went to summer camps and performed as well as he did in Columbus and at PSU Nike, he would have picked up a ton of offers. MSU got in early and will probably get a commitment from him out of it.

I thought we would take 2 WR's in this class, so if Lippett commits we only have one spot open, though hopefully 2. I would like to get Tony Jones and Dyjuan Lewis. Not sure where Lewis is leaning but after a 4.49 forty I would love to add him to our WR's, as well as Lippett and Jones.

Don't sleep on Brandon Banks.

And other receivers that were in attendance at PSU were Brandon Ifill, Adrian Coxson, Andrew Carswell and Brandon Felder.

Thanks for the rundown of players that were also there.

Banks is good, but I would like Lewis and Jones based on their offers and what I have read about them. I thought that Jones was our best bet for a verbal at the spring game.

Lewis has stated that he will be waiting until Signing Day to make his decision; We will hopefully be full at that time with Wide Receivers.

We will see what a Lippett commitment does to guys like Jones or Lewis.

If Lewis waits until NSD we aren't getting him.

Jones wants to wait but will he have time to?? I think if Banks comes to camp and has academics in order, I think he will get an offer.

We will see it will be interesting.

I'm hoping that he doesn't take that long to decide. That timeline could change and I hope it does because, IMO, WR is one of the biggest needs in this class and Lewis would be a great pickup.

Lippett is interesting in that he performed very well against some of the top WR's in the midwest. It would also be good to get a commitment from a PSL player that could help with recruiting momentum.

His QB video is pretty good. He has a strong arm and his throws are pretty accurate. His technique is still raw. He throws depending strictly on his arm strength. He needs to learn to step into his throws and use his hips to get momentum on his throws and also improve his accuracy. A good QB coach could really develop this kid. I wouldn't totally shut the door on him as a QB. He is obviously very athletic and could be a Keshawn Martin type of player.

i think we end up getting Jones. i wonder how many openings Dantonio will leave open for kids on NSD, afterall we are going after some highly recruited guys. will Dantonio gamble and try to get some kids on NSD or will he play it safe and stop recruiting some of the kids waiting until the end so he can get a full class in. should be interesting to see what happens

We are behind the academic schools for Jones and I wouldn't feel confident in getting him.

Is a Lippett commitment going to shake things up maybe but I don't think you will see Jones commit shortly after.

We have a long road ahead of us to surpass schools like Standford, Vanderbilt and Northwestern for Jones. I would bet on Northwestern due to family in the area and prestigious academics.

As for waiting for NSD, if we have an extra slot or two available maybe but you don't tell everyone to hold off or not offer anymore prospects and just wait on Lewis. We aren't to the point where we have the luxury to do that.

I think he would be an emergency type player or a guy that you can run trick plays.

I think a lot would have to happen for him to being a long term QB here.

He is just to good of an athlete.

we are going after a lot of high profile guys. what if we are in the top 5 for Prater, Lewis, Storm Johnson, Gholston and say 1 or 2 more national recruits and they are deciding on NSD. what would Dantonio do if that situation happens because it is plausable. thats a situation that none of us would know what he would do and it would be exciting to see what Dantonio would do.

Well all of those are certainly possible outside of Prater. Him not making it up here all but killed our chances.

I think Gholston is the one guy that has a spot regardless.

You are talking about potentially saving room for 4-6 prospects and it would be unwise for us to save that much room.

We can find a running back comparable to Johnson. I think in a situation Dantonio would take two wide outs and maybe keep a luxury spot open for Lewis.

And it depends on who the national guys are. If they are running backs, no but if they are a big offensive lineman or someone like that where you can't get enough of that position then it is possible.

Not going to post exactly what has been said but there are two individuals on Spartanmag that know the Jones family and speak with them often.

Both have said we aren't in amazing shape and we aren't the leader. Both have said Northwestern is likely.

Jones is high on MSU but his family is higher on academic schools.

Dwanye Beckford loved MSU as well but his mom wanted him at Purdue.
