Arm strength is outstanding and he is one of the few players in this class with natural downfield power and terrific wrist snap and velocity on all throws. Plays in a multiple set scheme out of the shotgun and from under center. Foot speed is good for the position and overall athleticism is very good. Gets back and set quickly in the pocket, feet are balanced and he shows poise and confidence surveying the field. Shows good ball handling skills, can freeze defenders with play fakes and can make the deep sideline throws from the opposite hash off play action. Has shown the ability to work through progressions, side-step the rush, keep eyes downfield and deliver the ball on time. Can compensate on late throws with arm strength and is more than capable of fitting the ball into tight spots in all three phases of the field-- short, intermediate and deep. Delivery mechanics are sound and consistent. Release is fairly compact and he is capable of driving off his plant foot and deriving excellent power when he transfers his weight through his hips. Overall accuracy is very good and even through he displays a great arm, he can change ball speeds a bit too. He is a guy that can use his feet to buy time and get an extra passing chance. Is not afraid to tuck the ball and run and shows very good foot speed for the position. He can be elusive and is a much better runner and athlete than one might think. His feet and arm make him a threat on the perimeter when rolling to either side because he can tuck it, but also make difficult throws off balance and across his body due to his arm strength. The more you watch Hendrix, the more you get an appreciation for the vast array of throws he can make which you do not see much of at the high school level. He can be a bit robotic at times as a passer-- a little tense in the upper body, but he has a high ceiling for further development. Overall, this is a kid that should be garnering far more attention than he is in the spring on a national level particularly in what is considered a down year by most at the QB position. Big arm, good athlete and nice upside.

Michigan State has offered Moeller junior QB Andrew Hendrix and Moeller junior LB Marcus Rush, reports Moeller coach John Rodenberg. Both players have several other offers, including UC.

It appears to be a new offer so looks like the staff is not going to wait around for Bolden to make up his mind..

2 QB offers is nothing. Schools take 2 all the time.

If the bucks offer he's theirs but otherwise its fair game. How serious is this kid about MSU? His film looked pretty good definitely surprised me with his quick feet.

He's gonna have to go to a pretty poor program if there isn't any competition. I think a team wins when it had competitors who push one another the way Cousins and KN are doing right now. A kid who doesn't have the confidence he could win the job, doesn't belong in a top program, or even a moderately successful program. Not saying this is Bolden's position, I doubt it is.

looking at MSU's depth chart I believe they'd only intend on taking one and if things looked great with Bolden I believe this guy wouldn't get an offer, not that he's not worthy it's just that Bolden is that much better of an option. Who knows he could be a sleeper.
Just to clarify, I'm not saying Bolden won't come to MSU, I'm just saying the staff doesn't see him as a lock and they don't want to be in the same position as OSU's staff last year when looking for a QB, scrambling at the last minute.

Not really. There is a rising junior quarterback in Dayton (Wayne HS) this is being pushed hard already by OSU. I guess a lot of rising seniors are a little uneasy about taking a spot there and never seeing the field with Pryor already there. I know this for sure, on MSU's visit down to SW Ohio, this wasn't the only QB they visited.

Does he play guitar... sorry couldn't help myself.
It seems like most of the plays in his film are out some kind of strange I/ace/shotgun-like formation. With the QB not being under center but lining up directly in front of the running back. I honestly haven't seen this aside from the few times Purdue did something like it 5 or so years ago, what is this formation called?
Personally, if he looks good on film and does well in camps might as well give him a shot seeing as Bolden is going to take his sweet time.

So Rivals ranks both as 4 stars and 5.8 rating, the coaches have offered both, but you know that Bolden is "that much better of an option".
It must be great to know more than the people who get paid to know this stuff.

Agreed - although my thought has always been to take 1 QB in every class.

I thought the pistol was the shotgun with two backs set slightly further back than normal, the QB is between the two and the standard distance back from the line. I could be wrong though.

Pistol = a shotgun snap that is not as long as a shotgun.

Not doubting you, but just curious as to why Hendrix would jump on a PSU offer?
They do already have one quarterback for this class, and although his commitment has been shaky, if it is true that OSU is pursuing a 2011 QB, why would Hendrix want to put himself in the same situation at both PSU and OSU where he would see little time on the playing field?
I do not think that getting a QB for this class is vital, but if we could land someone like Hendrix, it would be a great addition.

Penn St. is probably looking to add 2 QB's in the 2010 class. Darryl Clark is a Sr. and Pat Devlin transferred out. That leaves them with the only other QB's on the roster being 2 RS-Fr. (1 is a walk-on) and 1 Fr. (Kevin Newsome).

The kid said he grew up rooting for Penn St. He said he has been up there a couple times and really liked it.
