Great article. Looks like this kid is one has probably contacted. I understand coach Nar has been out that way. Seems like he has all the attributes both athletically and character wise that seeks in a recruit. WR or DB most likely.

big weekend for us.

Mumphrey and Mathis will also be there on Officials and probably everyone else on non-officials. Actually, I am not sure if the Mathis visit would be an official or if he is just coming.

They won't be able to leave that game without being impressed. The atmosphere is going to be INSANE for that one. I can't wait.

I'd expect Mathis to be on an official visit after the season, closer to when he is deciding to announce, though he'll likely be at the game.

Mumphery will likely verbal to MSU around this time, unless something changes in his recruitment.

Tejay Johnson is becoming a much bigger recruit for MSU. He had two official visits this past weekend to RU and Neb. He's high on both schools, but MSU should be in good shape with him. MSU, RU, Neb. and Fla. (no offer) are likely his top schools. He has become a big target for MSU if they are taking 2 more CB's in this class. Johnson has great speed and could become a very good player. Neb. may not have room for him at CB after their recent commit and RU isn't very good, but they are the local school and Fla. likely won't take any more DB's this year. MSU is in a good position with him and he'd be a very good pickup for someone, hopefully MSU.

I see he hasn't been rated yet, but his average fan rating on rivals is a 4.1 star
Is that close to the kind of talent this kid is?

I've watched TeJay Johnson's highlight videos and I really like this kid. He plays offense (WR) and defense (CB) for his high school team. He runs a 4.40 forty and runs track on his HS team with times of 10.4 100 M, 21.3 200 M, and 48.6 400 M. His speed shows up in his highlights and he plays "field fast". Although, he is projected to play CB in college, he is the kind of versatile athlete the MSU staff loves. At 6'-1", 175 lbs., he is bigger than Dior Mathis and long term, TeJay might have more up-side and turn out to be the better player in the long run.

Will be visiting these weekend on an official visit. Regardless of reports he has visited both RU and Neb. He was impressed with Neb. and said they would be tough to beat. He is originally from PA. so getting him out of NJ shouldn't be too difficult. He seems fine with leaving the state with some of his comments, referring to Fla. and Neb. Johnson is a plan A recruit for MSU and will likely play CB, but could get a chance at WR. Would be great to get a verbal from him this weekend, though I'm unsure of how likely that is.

The options @ CB for 2010 are growing slimmer. Here are some of the remaining CB recruits :
FL, CB, Tre Boston - He committed to Cinci. back in July but now that Kelly is gone, he seems to be re-opening his recruitment and may have some interest in MSU who made him an offer early on in the recruiting process. He is the highest ranked CB still on MSU's radar (3 *).
FL, CB, Mike Smith - Some of the Spartan coaches visited him at his HS and he showed an interest in MSU but wasn't offered by MSU at that time.
OH, CB, Seth Cunningham - He was at MSU's summer camp but didn't receive an offer. Then he committed to Akron and later stated that he wanted to look at some other schools. Attends the same HS as Delvon Roe. If MSU were to offer him, I think he would commit shortly after.
MI, DB/RB - Jevon Langford - With Johnson's verbal to Rutgers, Langford may get an MSU offer.
PA, CB, Corey Harris - No MSU offer yet.
That's about it for CB prospects in 2010. MSU really needs another CB in the 2010 class. Right now MSU will only have 5 scholarship CB's on the 2010 Roster (C. L. Rucker ?, Adams, White, Dixon, and Hicks). That's not enough to face all those spread offense teams.
If they could get Tre Boston, he would be an excellent addition.

The more this goes the more it is looking like MSU is going to strike out with the still considering Spartan prospects left, maybe the 2 star corner from Florida if we're lucky

Guess it's a good thing they red shirted Adams because the depth at Corner next season is pretty damn thin even more so if Chris L Rucker is kicked off the team.

This sucks.

We must get another corner, if not two.
