No, not solely on academics. If MSU could beat out Ivy League schools for Eric Smith, it can certainly beat out NU.

you are correct. it can be done. which is why i used the word "might" weeks before the rivals article even came out. i never gave an indication whether it was a strong component or a weak one.

According to SM, will be at camp this weekend. That is a nice sign, NJ to EL is a long way to go for camp if you are not pretty serious about a school.

Probably just a repeat of the stuff you read on Spartanmag, but he's also mentioned in today's Detroit Free Press.

Center Brandon Vitabile of Bishop Ahr (New Jersey): The 6-foot-3, 298-pound Vitabile is rated the No. 9 center prospect in the nation by Rivals.com. Vitabile is focused on four main schools: Michigan State, Northwestern, Syracuse and Vanderbilt. The pending trip to East Lansing will mean that Vitabile will have visited all of the schools he is considering and a preseason decision is expected. Spartan coach Pat Narduzzi serves as the primary recruiter of Vitabile for Michigan State.

Definitely looks like a viable option at center for MSU. Hopefully we start recruiting NJ like Rutgers never could.

Decision coming for Vitabile?

Ryan Murray

Edison (NJ) Bishop Ahr offensive center Brandon Vitabile received his first scholarship offer from Syracuse during the spring. Soon after the Orange offer three other schools followed. This summer the offensive lineman has been busy.

The article was written by a Syracuse guy and all the questions asked and answers were about Syracuse. Nothing really said about MSU except that he has an offer. He did say that he wants to decide by the end of July

He was not at our camp. I do not see us in the picture without a visit. We also got 2 OL commits the day prior to camp.
