If MSU takes another RB in this class, I think "the handwriting is on the wall", that Glenn Winston won't be returning to the team.

And that's a shame, the kid could have done some damage in Green & White. Football players should act like boxers and consider their fists lethal weapons, and realize one mistake can blow it all up.

Then they won't take another RB for this class. He will be back on the field.

Maybe they see him at another position? Maybe they think he has a great skillset that is too much to pass up. Maybe they think Hill is only a specialist and not a RB so they would like to have 1 rb in every class. This offer has nothing to do with Winston.

As for Potts I would think that Rutgers would be his leader since that is the only school he has camped at.

This kid looks like he has pretty good vision on film, and also a motor that doesn't seem to quit.
I am curious about the offer though. Maybe the staff feel like that they already have their "big backs" in Caper/Baker from last year, and that this year they want two change of pace backs to compliment them? Hence the Hill/White/Givens/Potts offers?

With MSU's recent offer to FL RB James Potts, does this mean that "the handwriting is on the wall" that Glenn Winston will not re-join the team and MSU will take a 2nd RB in the 2010 class ?
Here are some of the RB possibilites :
FL RB James Potts - Recent MSU offer. His top 5 are; Memphis, MSU, Rutgers, Vandy & Buff.
FL RB James White - MSU has been recruiting him since early on in the recruiting process. His offer list is impressive but some feel he is still waiting for Miami to offer.
OH RB Andre Givens - Another player that MSU was recruiting early. His offer list is also impressive (but no OSU offer).
Wash. DC RB - Avery Williams - His offers include Kansas, MSU, Utah & WVU. Will probably make his decision before his HS season starts. I think he is a WVU "lean".
Some other players who don't yet have offers that the staff is probably still evaluating : MI RB - Levonte Brooks, MI RB - Jeremy Langford, OH RB - Erick Howard.

In looking at his video, he has "game breaker" type speed but it's not just "straight line" speed. He is elusive in the open field, shows good vision finding the "hole" and accelerates as soon as he sees it and he doesn't lose speed when he makes his cuts. He runs hard on every play and can break tackles.
I like this kid.

Wow. Kid is fast. Good lateral speed, but his burst is ridiculous.
There are several missed tackles every play. Some of his fakes were so fast the other guy didn't even have time to react to them.
Spins a lot. Seems to travel a lot of unnecessary distance, coaching should take care of that.
He really is slippery through the hole.
Not afraid to stiff arm or drop a shoulder.
Shows good hands @ 4:47.
Surprised he doesn't have more offers.

Could we be looking at him as a CB?
Seems a little small to play RB.

In watching his film...first person that comes to mind (Grand Rapids people this is for you)..is Justin hoskins. Graduated from GR Creston in 04, 6'0...180, 4.4 speed...freak athlete...just needed the right coaching. Unfortunately, he went to ND...had a falling out with Weis when he got there, transferred to CMU and never achieved his potential. I know his film is a small sample, but i feel like under the right coaching ( )...he could be a star.

What I find humorous is that all but one of his offers is listed as high interest, .
Don't want to start a but maybe the reason why we have so many RB offers out there is because we don't know if Nick Hill's commitment is totally soilid. His Rivals profile picture is at the big hole next to the scUMmers .

Well figure why does Will Gholston want to stay in MI when he could have gone out to California or Florida? We have no idea what offers were made or what's important to this kid. That's what makes recruiting interesting.

With Nick Hill, Baker, Caper and Winston all in the fold, he most likely wasn't being recruited as a RB (we still have an outside shot with storm). If anything coach D was probably recruiting him as a slot WR or CB.
I am sure Buffalo gave him whatever he wanted, as they are desperate for talent.

He was offered a while ago, once Hill commited and Storm was in the running we probably backed off pretty hard core
