Link to Rivals.com Profile
Link to Scout.com Profile
Tight end
Cherry Hill (NJ) Camden Catholic
Ht: 6-foot-3
Wt: 227 lbs
GPA: 3.91
Class: 2010 (High School)
Cadogan has four that stand above the rest ($)
I don't have a Rivals or Scout account so I don't know who his top 4 are, but he was mentioned in a recent Freep Article by Matt Dorsey: Boisture looks accurate at Elite 11; Anderson plans to visit East Lansing | Freep.com | Detroit Free Press

Wow..this kid kinda came out of nowhere...does this mean the staff does not feel real good about CJ ? We will probably only take one more DE correct?

I don't know what he projects as...the Dorsey article has him projecting as a TE or DE (though he seems a little small for DE right now at least), Rivals lists him as a TE, and Scout lists him as an OLB.

Yeah..he looks like a tweener at this point...if he stays close to the same size he looks like a good fit for OLB....we look stocked at TE and about done at DE..so that's why I questioned how we stood w/CJ....

He could play TE at MSU, as well as a few other positions. The staff will definitely keep a scholarship available for Olaniyan. If we get Jayrone Elliot then I think we should take a quicker, outside LB such as Cadogen (TE/LB) or Drummond (S/LB) instead of Snow. Cadogen is very versatile and he could play either position here.
If we took a TE in this class they would most likely redshirt and be able to some PT over the next 4 years. It would be nice to have another pass catching TE along with Sims for a few years.

Do you think Hoebing will remain at TE for his career?

I'm not sure if the staff will try him at OT yet. IMO, he will remain at TE, but will primarily be used as a blocking TE. Hoebing may be a solid pass catching TE, but right now he will probably be used mostly on running downs. Cadogen would be a good addition due to his ability to play TE/OLB/DE. A pass catching TE would be welcomed due to the use of the TE in MSU's offense.

Actually, right now Cadogen is more LB or FB size (6'-3", 230 lbs.) rather than college TE size. He is still only 17 years old and may still grow taller (now in the college game, ideally you want your TE's to be at least 6'-4" or taller). He is a good athlete and could project to several positions in college, such as; TE, DE, LB, FB.

Don't know how heavily MSU is recruiting him but I really like him.

From the Freep article on the early enrollees, we're in his top 3, and are looking at him on either side of the ball, Looks like Pitt and Wisconsin are his other two from looking at his rivals page. Haven't heard a lot about the kid, but he seems to have a nice offer list. From the article:
Quote:
One of the players Michigan State hopes to have on campus for an official visit this fall is Camden (N.J.) Catholic recruit Gerald Cadogan. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound prospect is being recruited as a project on either side of the ball.
Cadogan is narrowing his list of potential schools and the Spartans have made the cut. Cadogan has over 25 Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) scholarship offers and recently indicated that the Spartans are one of his top three choices. Rivals.com ranks Cadogan as one of the top players in New Jersey for the class of 2010 and three-star recruit.

I think they are recruiting him pretty hard since we are in his top 3, and he's never been on campus yet. I agree he looks real good on defense, and you can't have enough edge players. The fact that he also may be able to play TE is a bonus. Though if Sims is only around for 3 years, MSU will have a severe shortage of TE's, so he may be needed there.

Yep. Cadogan will be on his official this weekend. We recently made the cut and are in his final five. From Freep.com:
Quote:
|
Tight end Sherard Cadogan of New Jersey will be in East Lansing this weekend for an official visit. Cadogan, who has over 25 offers from BCS-conference schools, has narrowed his list to a final five and the Spartans made the cut, The Hawkeyes did not. A win by Michigan State over undeated Iowa could help seal the deal with the 6-foot-3, 227-pounder.

gonna be tough to get him out the east coast, but he would be a big get no doubt...especially if we transiton into the 3-4, he would terriffic on one side of that....

He has favored Pitt for a while and has a teammate committed to Wisc. Those are likely the two schools that lead for Cadogen. MSU has a great chance to impress him this weekend. Cadogen is one of the prospects that I hope ends up committing to MSU.

I really like this kid. After reviewing his defensive highlight video, I think he could make an immediate impact and contribute as a true freshman. He appears to have Chris Norman type athleticism and is even bigger and faster than Chris.

I'd consider Sherard a heavy MSU lean based on the circumstantial evidence.......I hope I'm right
