Trade proposed to me......

Kovalchuk for Joe Thornton and Brian McCabe. I'm leaning towards pulling the trigger on this. I'm hurting at the LW position.

That's a big one...McCabe having an incredible year so far, and Thorton is Thorton. Question is....are you willing to give up 2 guys that have produced consistently for you for one guy? Granted Kovalchuk is friggin insane...I'm just not sure it makes sense. You can't replace McCabe @ D, that's for sure.

My other centers are Spezza, Ribiero and Prucha. Not quite Thornton, but still pretty good.

Can't replace McCabe at D, you're right. But my LW'ers are garbage.

Any other way to work the trade w/o giving up McCabe? I think that Thorton AND McCabe is too much for Ilya.

Exactly. Even though he's giving up his best player, you are giving up 2 of your better players. You could go 1 for 1, but if you go through w/ this, you are definitely getting the short end of the stick on this trade. Kovalchuk will not put up enough numbers to compensate for the loss of 2 of your players. He's trying to rob you blind.
