I need fantasy keeper help!
Alright, so I'm taking over a team that's rather subpar. Here's who I have to pick from:
Batters
Rick Ankiel (OF), Ryan Church (OF), Prince Fielder (IF), Kosuke Fukudome (OF), Jerry Hairston Jr. (IF), Brad Hawpe (OF), Omar Infante (IF), Mike Jacobs (IF), Adam LaRoche (IF), Ryan Ludwick (OF), Brian McCann (IF), Nate McLouth (OF), Dustin Pedroia (IF), Carlos Pena (IF), Shane Victorino (OF), David Wright (IF)
Pitchers
Luis Ayala, Josh Beckett, Ryan Dempster, Felix Hernandez, Jon Lester, Ted Lilly, Brandon Lyon, Jonathan Papelbon, Mike Pelfrey, Oliver Perez, Andy Sonnanstine
I can pick 2 IF; 2OF; and 2 Pitchers. I say can because if I want to only pick 5 guys, then I can get an extra draft pick at the beginning. So, I'm set on keeping Wright; Fielder as my IFs. But, my OFs are subpar. I like both Victorino and McLouth, but I'm not sure either is quite worth such high draft picks. The same thing goes for Felix; Papelbon (I'm not big on closers drafted high) and Beckett.
So, what do you guys think? As of right now, I think I'm gonna take Victorino; McLouth; Papelbon; Felix; Wright and Fielder. However, I'm toying with the idea of not taking either McLouth or Victorino so I can get an extra high draft pick and see what else is out there.
Thoughts?

I'd keep Pedroia over Prince. Position scarcity. There are about 3 top flight 2nd baseman than a big drop to the next group. As far as 1st basemen go, there's about 10 guys that could put up Fielder like numbers.

Was just going to post the exact same thing. You might want to give Ryan Ludwick a look instead of McLouth. Ludwick had a great year last year and could be poised for an encore. Worth a thought I suppose...

While I like Ludwick, I'm not sure if he can duplicate last years numbers. I hope he does. I grew to like the guy when he was down here in Toledo. I think McLouth SHOULD put up better all around numbers.
Do you have to keep 2 outfielders? Can you keep just 1? I think Victorino is going to have an even better year this year.
I don't mean to sound like a Red Sox fan, I am, but I'd be hard pressed not to keep Lester over Felix. Felix will more more K's but Lester should put up a slightly better ERA/WHIP and will get more wins because of his team.

I a big razzball.com guy and I'm with them, I think Pedroia is incredibly overrated. I could care less about position scarcity, I dont think his numbers at 2b are enough to justify a potential top 4 draft pick. Fielder is a top 12 guy, no way I can pass for a guy who will be lucky to hit 15 hrs and 85 rbi.
I'm also leaning toward Beckett now, i think he's gonna have a nice come back year.
I appreciate the advice guys.

Alright, the rules have changed adn we can only keep 3 now. I'm torn between McCann; Pedroia; Victorino and Papelbon for that last spot. I'm not big on taking a 2b not named Chase that high and any closers. So, really, it's between McCann and Victorino.

I still say Pedroia, but if you are choosing between the other two. I'd go with Victorino.

As I said, I think Pedroia's overrated, but I'm starting to agree with you, especially when you consider awful the 2bs behind him are.

I think Pedroia is third, behind Utley and Kinsler. But after those 3 the difference is pretty significant.

People always undervalue batting average and runs. Pedroia was a great constant on a fbb team especially if you have guys that kill your BA....but I picked him in a late round last year.
If you are looking at 2b value Polanco is a guy that could have similar runs and BA to pedroia, but much lower steals, HR, and RBIs.
I'd keep
Pedroia, Wright, and Fielder if its any three, but sounds like you need another pitcher or outfielder. I'd have to go with Papelbon if that's the case
