Question re: Fantasy Football

In one of my leagues, teams that are out of playoff contention are starting bad lineups to improve their draft slot. (One guy started Bill Schroeder and Corey Schlesinger).

Does anybody know of a way to combat this? It truly F's up those people trying to catch up in a league.

ESPN sets it up so that the #1 pick goes to the top team OUT of the playoffs. Keeps everyone trying.

As commish of my league I am a friggin nazi (Trevor) and I levy fines for whatever I chose. That being said, I have a waiting list to join my league, so if you don't like it you can go eff yourself.

The fines already total $250 for the year. I charge $20.00 if you draft a player already drafted, and $50.00 if you play a guy on a bye week.

I played a guy on the bye a few weeks ago, but it was absolutely accidental.

Not a bad system though because you apply the rules evenly.

Great stuff! I wish my work league had a commish like you. We have a couple of teams who have colluded and they make rediculous trades.

Kick their cheating asses out of the league, or don't invite them back. That ='s not cool. F's with the integrity of the league.

FYI: It's the commish of the league that's submitting the bad lineups. Also, this is the first year I've been in the league. If this keeps up, it may be my last.

Our league does a weighted draft. The worst team gets 10 names in the hat, second worst gets 9, all the way down to the champ getting 1 chance. A couple years ago a guy tried to tank it at the end of the season to get 10 chances and still ended up with the 7th pick in the draft.

Holding a vote to remove him of the commisioners duties would be your first move.

If it's the commish, you're funked. Screw that league and go find a new one. I like the sound of 40's league, I run mine pretty tight but not that tight. So do you dump the fine money into the pot at the end of the season? I may have to start something like that...

Trade your crappy players for their good players.

Or

Make a rule against it next year, after you trade your crappy players for their good players.

Use an auction draft....much better than snake drafts and you eliminate BS like you are dealing with.

If you do your homework, it shouldn't matter too much what pick you have in any type of serpentine draft system. If you have to rely too heavily on your first pick then you are bush league.

My commish builds in weekly prizes for the last 3 weeks at $20 for most overall points. Seems to keep people interested in starting their best guys to at least re-claim some of their $$.
