Thanks!, I have been thinking about this all weekend. Now I can continue my fantasy ineptitude, and am looking for the next great white hype to appease all the fans in Boston.
What is the downside for buying out players?? I don't see any other way to make a dent into my cap situation.
who are you buying out??

Let me hold on to that
“Well, Paul, hold on a second,” said. “Because the look I saw on Michigan’s faces were ‘oh, no, the Spartans beat us again.’ That’s the look I saw.”
so if you buyout a player, does his whole contract still count against the cap?

It seems like it would not, that is my question. Why would I not buy Ben out, just because it hits the profitability of the team????
You still have to pay the guy so you take a cap hit. On the other hand you free up a roster spot. Unless the guy is complete garbage you can probably work him into a deal with someone.

you do free up the cap space. However in hitting your profits it also hinders your cap space. You can have all the cap space in the world but if you do not have the money to spend it doesn't matter.

That is the way I understand but the buyout checker screen says that I will free up 14mil from the cap and make the team money?? Here is the screen from the buyout checker. There should be a huge downside, I just don't see it?????
The team involved in this buyout has enough money for this transaction. The team involved in this buyout is absorbing the entire contract.
Buying out Ben Wallace´s contract under these terms will free up $14,000,000.00 in Cap Space
Projected Outlook After Buyout: The Celtics will gain $4,430,000.00 in projected profits for the 2009-10 season
Projected Team Budget After Buyout: $49,658,085.00 - $14,000,000.00 = $35,658,085.00
You will earn more money in 2009/2010 because obviously you aren't paying 14 million in salary, but you just paid 14 million dollars from your bottom line profits.
So in essence - the projection is that you will earn 4.4 mil more in 09/10, but to earn that you paid 14 million, so you are losing 9.6 mil for your franchise....this does not include the agency free of $280,000.00 you are also paying.
This also does not take into account that you aren't really recouping that full 4.4 mil because you will likely replace Wallace with another contract player whom you have to pay.
This is why there are very few buyouts in the "real" NBA.
In my opinion, the only players that should be eligible for buyouts are those that are injured and never returning to action. It is my understanding that "Superagent" - who is the owner of the site is NOT going to grant very many buyouts this year - and mostly is going to only grant them to injured players or players that are for whatever reason no longer in the NBA.
Is there anyway to change the draft date or is it automatically picked? It seems like 4th of July weekend would be a bad time to have it (maybe just me)...just a thought.

can't enter the draft right now for some reason...it is giving me a error message.
