Footballguys.com

Anyone use this site before? A co-worker mentioned it to me and I have found it to be very helpful. They have a good magazine on their site that is free and also have a good excel worksheet for calculating player values.

Yep, I use their free stuff. Never paid for any premium content. Although their value based drafting system does an ok job, I'm not completely sold and have to make my own adjustments. This particularly comes into play when calculating auction values using their spreadsheet. I've found they can be off by about 20% in 3rd to 5th round territory.

We dont do an auction, but I am going to use the VBD numbers their spreadsheet calculated. I have a crappy draft position so I figured it can hurt.

IMO, the best tool for ranking players is the Average Draft Position tool at MyFantasyLeague.com. Configure the settings with rules that are similar to your league and select only the most recent batch of draft results, and it'll compile a list of the average order in which players have been drafted. This'll give you a great idea of what the other players in your league are likely to do. You can then scan through the list and make note of which players appear to be under/overvalued.

Assuming you have a serpentine draft, I really don't believe there is such a thing as a crappy draft position. Even if you're 12th out of 12, that means you'll have 2 of the top 13 guys!

I've used FBguys for about 5 years now. I keep buying it even though I say I won't at the end of the previous year just because I don't have the time to do the draft preparation that I used to. I'm considering flying solo this year though to keep the Fantasy costs to a minimum.

Their software isn't all that user friendly and like someone else said, I always seem to disagree with their draft strategy. I sort of use a hybrid. I'll often draft the position they want me to, but not always the player. That said, it's had good results for me, finishing in the final 4, three times in the last 5 years, with one championship game appearance. Also used in in another league I was in only one year and won that league.
