How much pull, if any, does someone like Chris Allen have with this kid...? Both being from GA and all... Regardless of how good the talent will be in GA over the next few years, that would be HUGE for our program if we could open up a legit pipeline to a southern state...

I think they actually played on the same AAU team (Mustangs?) so I'm sure Allen has been in his ear..

Here's a direct quote from an old article regarding this.
Quote:
Tom Izzo is the only head coach to find his way out to Central Gwinnett this fall to see the young five-star prospect. The Spartans landed Chris Allen, a key member of their 2007 recruiting class, just up the road from where Howell lives. The Spartans have made a big impression early on.
"They are the only school that has really been out to see me and give me a lot of looks this school year," Howell said. "They are the only ones that have sent a head coach to see me."
|
I'm not sure how hard he's been recruited since, though.

OK, Central Gwinett and Marieta are nowhere close to each other. 45 minute drive at the minimum.
That said, Izzo needs an in at Norcross High - 3 consecutive state titles. And a junior point guard (Muhamed) whos mother I work with and talk to daily

I'm slowly starting to prefer Howell over Kirk. I'm not there yet, but I'm heading in that direction.
I don't care too much that his stock is dropping. His stock is probably dropping some because he's a little bit of a tweener and he's not a combine freak. That said, Kid has a solid ball IQ, he knows how to play the game and he seems to play big in big games. He's consistently productive. Solely due to his athleticism, Kirk has the higher upside without question but there's a lot of risk involved there as well.
Howell is the more sure thing...though admittedly it's a less lofty sure thing.
Which way do you go? that's a tough one.

No reason we can't take both. We need a couple combo forwards in this class....although I'm not sure how Kirk has progressed outside the paint.

I just know that every update last year had him at Central Gwinnett in Lawrenceville. I'm pretty sure that they weren't wrong every single time.

Just like the same number of sources you said still had Dex coming to MSU. Whatever Nic.

Well, of the three schools who've offered him, Georgia (lost 1st round to Xavier), Florida (did not make the tournament) and MSU; we're the only school still in the NCAA tournament. I hope that helps!

I wouldn't be surprised if Howell DID have an MSU offer. But he doesn't now.

Ohhh Nick. By sources do you mean that you have a subscription to every MSU recruiting service and you steal their information and post it as you own? I think so...

Scout - Richard Howell - Is MSU Still Interested? $
Confirmed that MSU has indeed offered him. Still interested in MSU and hears from them. Says MSU coaches are looking at him as a WF.

Howell: "I'm interested in Michigan State, Texas, Memphis, Tennessee and Auburn. They're all about the same right now."

Weird that he didn't mention Georgia or Florida. Both gave him offers

Raymar doesn't have a jump shot.
