Hoops OH C Garrick Sherman verbals to MSU per Scout.com

Just received an e-mail from Scout.com.

Garrick Sherman, C, 6'10" 235 from Kenton, OH, has verballed to MSU, over Purdue and ND., for the 2009 class.

He shows no offers on Scout, including MSU, and is rated a 3 star prospect at this point.

Discuss.

You are wrong :-)

Stronger than Herzog already. More weight over less height, better balance and offensive skills.

Yeah, he's quite big. He looked more in control of his body than Herzog. Not to diss Herzog, but he's still getting used to his body. At least this kid looks ready to go and he's only a junior. I like this kid.

I read, maybe on Chair's site, that he's 235, which would make him 5 pounds heavier than Herzog while being several inches shorter. He's got the frame to play Big 10 hoops early on.

There is a LOT of upside with a kid like this. I think this a good get and definitely a plan "A" for Izzo.

Unfortunately, he's already fouled out of the 2010 game at the Kohl Center.

I'm not trying to nitpick, I'm just curious. So this kid is 5 lbs heavier than that, but the stats for Naymick are from when we signed him, and the stats for Sherman are from his Jr. season, correct? I'm just confused because you mention "when we signed him" so that was likely Naymick's Sr. year, right? If so, giving this guy all summer to lift weights.

BJ Mullens and William Buford were named co-players of the year in ohio. Lets hope Sherman gets the same award next year.
