I just thought it was funny that the first thing that people mention was Herzog. They've got a much better comparison out there. Unfortunately, I can't find a weight for his junior season to match up. It looks like in the May before his senior year he was listed at 230...which is about the same.

Scout - Sherman Picks Big Ten Program $

“Michigan State is just a great school with a lot of tradition,” Sherman said. “The coaching staff had a lot to do with it and they are all great coaches. Coach Izzo has been there and he’s established himself as one of the best coaches in nation. It’ll be great to play for him. Plus I want to go there and win championships.”

Awesome! Both because he has another year, and because you were able to understand my clusterf*** of a post!

I think that most people were focused on a few players like Dexter Strickland and DaShonte Riley from the get go. With a year until the 2009 class has to sign, Tom felt strongly enough on this to pull the trigger.

...I just want to pair him up with another power forward (Kirk) and I'll be happy.

23,16 and 5 blocks is impressive for a junior. Typically a big kid like this improves the most between his junior and senior seasons.

For truth. Would've been nice if ANY of the MI bigs did something of note this year.

no difference at all, just saying that the focus was on different names during the early stages of recruiting..it will be interesting to see who the other 3 schollies go to

So are we looking to get 3 more? If so who does everybody want? How many more bigs? It seems this class is really cloudy and the Sherman commitment was a bit surprising.

I'll repeat what Comp just posted. There is going to be some pressure to commit now between Kirk and Riley. That can only work in MSU's favor.

Yeah from an MLive HS blog

There's a reason the in-state high-majors like MSU and U-M are still holding out on offers to a lot of the current juniors, and why mid-majors have even reneged on early offers -- these guys aren't that good ... yet.

Definitely some new names out there. Only one (Strickland) is off the table though. Some of the others aren't in the picture completely for a variety of reasons. Players at the position that we really need (bigs) are still there though. Kirk and Sherman would be a very good class of bigs.

I just have no clue who else we'd look at for the other 2 schollies. Howell? Someone new? Not a lot of names thrown around right now.
