That's your mindset chief and you're entitled to it...but don't shove your SB down everyone else's throat and freak out when they don't look at things in the same rosey way as you. There're legitimate reasons why MSU hasn't won a Big Ten title in several years. The talent level and more specifically the talent mix haven't been up to MSU standards in recent years. Tom Izzo and his staff aren't infallible. Certain players have failed to develop and errors have definitely been made on the recruiting front.

Difference between Sherman and Stewart...Garrick actually showed interest in MSU and the coaching staff pushed for a commit (because they wanted him). Garrick picked up the phone and called to commit...thats what kids do when they are REALLY interested in a school. If Stewart is actually interested in MSU, why hasn't he called the coaches himself?
The term offer is hard to define. Basically it comes down to this....you have an offer when the coaching staff tells you that they want you to commit (and when you commit, the coach obviously accepts your commitment).

The question is, how does a kid with an offer end up saying, 'I like them, I wish they would recruit me (harder)? I don't know what it is, but something just doesn't add up. Perhaps he feels he needs both an offer as well as a lot of attention. It seems like a dangerous game for any school to extend offers to kids they aren't sold on.

They don't have to accept the commitment.

Hhhhmmmm... Does that ever happen, a kid has an outstanding offer and he gets turned down even though the slot hasn't been filled with anyone else?
I guess it could, but I'd think that's not the kind of reputation a school wants getting around.

Actually it's not that unusual, just kids don't like making a big deal about how they got turned down. Do you tell everyone about the chicks that turned you down?

I don't know, I've never been turned down by a chick.
The issue is kids having an offer AND getting turned down. As far as I can tell, only a handful of kids have offers. So, you're saying that really doesn't mean anything, they can still get turned down...ok...it just sounds strange.

Well most offers are either conditional or time sensitive. You get sent an offer, and you have that offer, but things change so unless you have a pretty quick turnaround, or are still in contact with a coach giving you a push - you should double check your status before saying something stupid.

Good post, all offers are conditional and kids/coaches know this.
If a recruit is sincerely interested in a school, he will keep in close contact with the coaching staff.

That makes sense, and that explains it, thanks.

Ari Stewart said West Virginia is the newest school in the mix for him. Virginia, Georgia, Oregon, Xavier, Miami, Wake Forest, Florida, NC State and Georgia Tech were also offered up as schools in the mix for him.

Rivals.com Basketball Recruiting - Prather top performers

Stewart's athleticism has always been one of his strengths and with his length and size, he's always been a match-up problem out on the wing as a jump shooter. His full array of strengths were on clear display in Atlanta.
Stewart's production was the by-product of Udofia's play. Stewart scored because Udofia found him at the right time and at the right place.
When he's in the open floor and constantly moving, he's at his best. The floor was certainly open and Stewart was certainly moving around, hence his high production at the Prather.

Ari Stewart loves July. Last year, he started his strong summer run at Rbk U. This year, the 6-foot-7 athlete from the Worldwide Renegades tipped off his July period with the United States U18 national try-outs. On Friday, he was the best player in the gym.
Stewart absolutely assaulted the rims at USC Aiken on Friday. The four-star prospect used his trademark athleticism to set the tone early in the game and dominated inside the paint with his rim-rattling effort.
The Georgian seemed to have his confidence meter cranked up to high and he played like a man that is comfortable in his own skin when the brightest lights are on. Stewart said Xavier, Wake Forest, Oregon, Miami, Virginia, South Florida, Alabama and Georgia Tech are on his short list.

I think we can almost cross him off the list
