Scout - Expecting an Offer Soon $
"I haven't received a scholarship offer from Michigan State yet, but they're telling me it will be soon,"
Like it has been said for months now, it's a "when" not an "if" with Appling.

I hope Keith has a good head on his shoulders and a strong work ethic that'll allow him to be able to handle the early offer (and verbal) without losing track that he still has major areas that need to be improved upon in his game. It's easy for a kid that young and talented to subconscienciously become complacent with his game when so many friends and family are telling him and acting like he's already big time.
This kid has the potential to be a McDonald's All American when it's all said and done. I hope he realizes his potential and has the drive to attain it.

AAspartan's post pretty much sums it up. The conversation took place during the game so it's not documented very well, but it's believed to say he's going to be in G&W.

The kid is a stud. Have seen him a few times. Has offers already from UCONN, Tennessee, Xavier and Syracuse.
WOTs is he loves MSU. Would love to have him in the green and white.

Keith Appling ranked #47 in ESPN Super 60 - Class of 2010.

Evaluation
December, 2007: A pure scorer cut from the mold of Ben Gordon. He's a bit small for a true two guard, but don't mistake him for a pure point guard. He can shoot it with range to 22 feet and he hits at a high percentage. He also is a natural slasher that gets into the lane and finds ways to finish with impressive body control and touch. He's a finisher supreme! Also gets fouled a lot and makes his free throws. He's already one of the leading scorers in the tough Detroit Public School League, an impressive stat for a sophomore. If he grows a couple more inches it's all over. He could be one of the nation's top scorers for years.

Wow, 6'3 Guard as a sophmore, should be at least 6'4,6'5... maybe even 6'6 by the time he reaches EL.

Wow, I honestly didn't know how this kid slipped by me. I feel like I keep up with the targets pretty well but I didn't know much about Appling until reading up today. Sounds like a tremendous young talent and I'm glad I keep hearing all of the great news about him being a possible commit soon.
Hope Izzo gets him is offer soon so the kid can commit and we can start celebrating. If everything I read is correct, this would be a major commitment!

I just read in an article that he hasn't received an offer yet, but will receive one very soon. I don't know if that is accurate or not.
If he does have his offer, hopefully he is the next great Spartan commitment.

A lot of times coaches are just extremely busy and they need a little time to plan out how many scholarships they'll have, who they plan on having come in, and making sure that everything will work out. With the season just finishing, I'm sure Izzo is just now diving head on into recruiting work. If offered, that is a huge compliment because we will probably bring in several kids in the 09 class and just a couple of special players in the 10' class.
BTW, Future Spartan are you a recruit yourself?

Don't compare it to the Strickland recruitment either. Big difference. One is a Local Kid and One is from New Jersey.

That lip reading business is much ado about nothing. I'll believe this kid is in the bag...when he's in the bag. Until then, I'll look at him as I have most of the other Detroit recruits in recent years. Easily swayed.

That's Awesome. It's great that you stereotype a kid.
