Ed Martin has been dead for years now. Well before all but one kid on your list.
World Wide Wes is the guy behind Raymar, Malik and CDR. Dont know about Crawford.
That being said, I have had talks with someone that is paid to evaluate basketball players and this person can not heap enough praise on Appling. Every time I see this person who is one of my better friends, he has a new story about the greatness of Appling. Said kid is LIGHTS OUT!! He has also said he would be surprised if Appling is not a .

That's great! Good luck. Are you a basketball player I take it? If so, are you getting major interest from schools which leads you to believe you might be the calibur of player MSU recruits? If so, that's great.

The commitment of Nix should really help getting this kid

Can anyone speak to the relationship between these two??? Any influence...?
I heard Appling was practically in the bag so I doubt it matters... notice I said practically so don't rip...I know nothing is a guarantee...

Rivals.com Basketball Recruiting - King James - Saturday
Quote:

Playing his third game in a row, Michigan guard Keith Appling didn't have his best game in front of us. The locals have raved about his play and word is he went for 30-plus and 20-something in the two prior games to our viewing. He's a scoring point guard with a wiry frame. Word is Michigan State is very strong with him. The Spartans just landed a commitment from his 2009 high school teammate Derrick Nix last week.

I think this was the report i read where he was playing like his 3rd game in 2 hours or something like that. Really hope we land this guy he sounds like the 2010 version of Rose.

Wow, no pressure here. Only comparing him to Derrick Rose, the probably #2 pick in the draft.

For those you have seen him play in person (not what you read on Rivals/Scouts/Message boards)...
What type of player is Appling? And what position will he likely play in college?
With his height at 6' 3", he can play both PG and SG, but which is his game more suited for?
Who would you compare his game to? I know some people on this board have thrown out Derrick Rose, but realistically is he more of a taller Kalin Lucas or Chris Allen or Summers or someone completely different.
Thanks for your help!!

Don't be crazy. I wouldnt go that far. Not even close. He doesn't have the athleticism or explosiveness of a Rose or a Gordon.

From what I've seen, he seems like more of a shorter Manny Harris.

I think he has a better outside shot...not like he is great or anything, but I think if guys give him the three, he can hit it. But, yes, it does seem he has Manny's slashing ability.

He's nowhere near as athletic as Rose.

He's a combo guard for sure (think Charlie Bell without the ridiculous rebounding ability). Fantastic defender, can do it all offensively-handle, distribute, shoot. Ideally, I'd like to have him at SG because he'd give you a second very good handler on the court with whoever (yes, I'm talking to you, Ray McCallum) is playing PG.

A little better, maybe. Way better?
Don't kid yourself slick...Keith's outside shot needs work. It's not as smooth or as reliable as it needs to be. Make no mistake, he was streaky this past year from behind the arc...and not Korie Lucious or Chris Allen streaky either. His perimeter shooting performances in the semis and finals at the Bres were poor. I think he was a combined 1 of 7 or 1 of 8 from three.
Fortunately, the penetration game is his bread and butter and that area of his game is lights out. He has plenty of time to put in the neccessary work on his jumper.

I knew from the moment I read this that Slick would be coming to Appling's defense.
