Scout - Expecting an Offer Soon $
"I haven't received a scholarship offer from Michigan State yet, but they're telling me it will be soon,"
Like it has been said for months now, it's a "when" not an "if" with Appling.

I hope Keith has a good head on his shoulders and a strong work ethic that'll allow him to be able to handle the early offer (and verbal) without losing track that he still has major areas that need to be improved upon in his game. It's easy for a kid that young and talented to subconscienciously become complacent with his game when so many friends and family are telling him and acting like he's already big time.
This kid has the potential to be a McDonald's All American when it's all said and done. I hope he realizes his potential and has the drive to attain it.

AAspartan's post pretty much sums it up. The conversation took place during the game so it's not documented very well, but it's believed to say he's going to be in G&W.

Wow, 6'3 Guard as a sophmore, should be at least 6'4,6'5... maybe even 6'6 by the time he reaches EL.

Wow, I honestly didn't know how this kid slipped by me. I feel like I keep up with the targets pretty well but I didn't know much about Appling until reading up today. Sounds like a tremendous young talent and I'm glad I keep hearing all of the great news about him being a possible commit soon.
Hope Izzo gets him is offer soon so the kid can commit and we can start celebrating. If everything I read is correct, this would be a major commitment!

I just read in an article that he hasn't received an offer yet, but will receive one very soon. I don't know if that is accurate or not.
If he does have his offer, hopefully he is the next great Spartan commitment.

A lot of times coaches are just extremely busy and they need a little time to plan out how many scholarships they'll have, who they plan on having come in, and making sure that everything will work out. With the season just finishing, I'm sure Izzo is just now diving head on into recruiting work. If offered, that is a huge compliment because we will probably bring in several kids in the 09 class and just a couple of special players in the 10' class.
BTW, Future Spartan are you a recruit yourself?

Don't compare it to the Strickland recruitment either. Big difference. One is a Local Kid and One is from New Jersey.

That lip reading business is much ado about nothing. I'll believe this kid is in the bag...when he's in the bag. Until then, I'll look at him as I have most of the other Detroit recruits in recent years. Easily swayed.

Stereotypes wouldn't be around if they weren't based on a modicum of truth.
Detroit kids have a history of leaving the state to play ball. This isn't a new phenomenon. Though if I grew up in the D, I wouldn't mind travelling a bit for a free education either. Don't get me wrong, I hope Appling loves the G&W and ends up as a Spartan...but I've learned to take Detroit recruitments with a grain of salt.
Call me a hopeful skeptic.

I agree. With all of the good news surfacing about this kid committing to MSU soon, I think we ought to be more positive about it. I understand being cautiously optimistic, but every kid is different. Just because some Detroit kids made bad decisions in the past, doesn't mean it's gotta be in this kid's thread.
This is the recruit I'm most excited about and I can't wait to see that "Red" on rivals. C'mon down Appling...I'm ready to root for ya.

Ramar Smith is a bad example.
He wanted to stay in state, grades meant he had to go to Tenn.
No one, and I mean no one, thought he would qualify

Ed Martin has been dead for years now. Well before all but one kid on your list.
World Wide Wes is the guy behind Raymar, Malik and CDR. Dont know about Crawford.
That being said, I have had talks with someone that is paid to evaluate basketball players and this person can not heap enough praise on Appling. Every time I see this person who is one of my better friends, he has a new story about the greatness of Appling. Said kid is LIGHTS OUT!! He has also said he would be surprised if Appling is not a .

That's great! Good luck. Are you a basketball player I take it? If so, are you getting major interest from schools which leads you to believe you might be the calibur of player MSU recruits? If so, that's great.
