Porsche is a strong and quick guard. She averaged around 17 points a game for McKinley along with 4 steals. Scrappy. Gritty. Heady. From what I hear, she seems a lot like Brittany Thomas...but more of a scorer. A natural in the open court.

At 6'1", Courtney is a scoring forward who can shoot. She played in the same district as Porsche and her team actually knocked McKinley out of the state playoffs. I think she averaged around 24 and 10. I don't think she's exceptionally fast so it may take her a year or so to get acclimated to the speed of the Big Ten.

Yep, there will basically be four "new" additions to the women's team next year.

Poole and Schiffauer join the team.
Aisha returns from injury. (Huge)
Lykendra becomes eligible. (Potentially Huge)

Here's the official release regarding the class of '08.

Quote:

Porschè Poole • 5-8 • G • Canton, Ohio • McKinley High School
Multi-talented guard who excels in the open court and is also a slasher with control around the rim...a solid 3-point shooter...three-year letterwinner averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists as a junior...heads into her senior season ranked one of the top 25 seniors in the state by Ohio Girls Basketball Report...ranked the No. 29 shooting guard in the country by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report...two-time All-Federal League honoree...a first-team all-district and all-county selection her junior year...plays for Coach Pam Davis...plays in the same conference as fellow signee Courtney Schiffauer...plans to major in either communication or sport management...former Spartans Eric Snow and Percy Snow attended McKinley High School, as well as current men's basketball player Raymar Morgan.
Merchant on Porschè (PORE-shay) Poole:
"We really wanted a combination guard, and Porschè has the ability to be a 1 and a 2 guard. I always thought some of the best teams out there at any level are the ones that have two guards that can handle it at any given time, the guards that have the ability to pass it but at the same time be scorers as well. I see Porschè and (current freshman) Brittney (Thomas) being really solid in the backcourt. Brittney's more of a true point, and Porschè is a combo guard, so the nice thing is that we believe Porsche' can score for us and also relieve Brittney at the point, which will help us a lot in our transition game. I think as we get healthier in the future our tempo will change, and Porschè will be a big part of that. Porschè is really good in transition and the open court. The thing that makes Porschè special is that she truly is a triple-threat: she can get to the rim, she has a pull-up jump shot and she can shoot 3's. There's not a lot of kids anymore that can do all three. The game has gotten to the point where you are either a shooter or a driver, not both, but what makes Porschè special is that she has that complete game. She's quick, and as a defender, her biggest strength is off the ball, anticipating passing lanes. She will add a lot to our defense as far as length on the perimeter."
Quote:
Courtney Schiffauer • 6-1 • F • Boardman, Ohio • Boardman High School
Tough inside-outside player who averaged 25.0 points a game as a junior, becoming the 10th player in Boardman High School history to surpass the 1,000-point mark...heads into her senior season ranked one of the top 25 seniors in the state by Ohio Girls Basketball Report...ranked the No. 58 small forward in the nation by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report...plays for Coach Ron Moschella...during her sophomore and junior seasons, earned first-team All-Federal League and first-team All-Northeastern Ohio honors...averaged just over 18 points a game as a sophomore...as a freshman, helped Boardman qualify for the state semifinals, marking the school's first appearance at the state championships in Columbus...plays in the same conference as fellow signee Porschè Poole...also played volleyball for three years...named MVP of the team as a junior...two-time All-Federal League and all-district volleyball selection....member of track team for two years...carries a 3.6 grade-point average and has earned three varisty letters...plans to major in education.

Merchant on Schiffauer (SHIFF-hour):
"Courtney is a face-up post-player out of the 4 position that can really create off the dribble. She has the ability to shoot 3's as well, but she's really a strong trail and attack 4 player. I haven't seen too many players in the 4 position that can consistently put it on the floor and get it to the rim like she can. She's really powerful with her dribble and has the range to extend, which is really important to us, especially in our post-play. It really opens things up inside when you have someone who can attack from the 4-spot. She's definitely more of a face-up 4 than a power 4. She knows how to get fouled; she's very good at getting to the free-throw line and is a good shooter from the line. Her biggest attribute is that she's a scorer - she finds a way to score. She's athletic, has a big body, moves really well and runs really well. She's a
