Asst. Coach opening at UCLA now, does this pave the way for Trey and his dad to return to UCLA as a package deal. 2 for 1

Why in the world would Ernie want to go back to UCLA to be an assistaint? He is a successful MAC coach who should be on the list for bigger Head Coach jobs in the next several years.

I
He wouldn't sniff another HC position, hasn't won more than 15 games since he arrived at CMU.

No pressure in Mt Pleasant right now. Ernie is not going to leave. Ernie has a couple of really good big men recruits for 2010.

I
Especially if he could land a top recruit or two.

Okay...so it's officially April now? Does anybody have any indication when this announcement is coming?

Is there any chance that TZ walks on this year and receives a scholarship next year? His dad is making 100+k(I'm assuming) at CMU. He could afford it if we are actually his dream school. With all the graduating seniors next year we would defintely have a scholarship for him next year.

If that's what he wants then best of luck to him. Sims was a similar situation i believe, liked Izzo but decided he wanted to go to Michigan. Poor TZ will be a similar fate.

I'd say there is about a .00001% chance of this happening.

I hear MSU is in the driver seat from a few different people. I think it's a toss up, nobody know what's going on.

This reminds me alot of Paynes recruitment. Not sure who played it tighter to the vest though

Zeigler has managed to say more words, I suppose, but reveal equally little. Seriously, I don't expect to know anything or receive any information I'd take to the bank until perhaps word starts to leak the day before the announcement (if it does).

Ya same with Paynes, I take all "inside" info with a grain of salt. If we were going with what all the bloggers have said, Payne would be in WV or KY, but hes not. So just like his recruitment I wont believe any hype until about a day or two before he commits.

I know TZ is a very good all around player, but how athletic is he? And if we land him, will if affect Brandan Dawson's decision to come to MSU?

Yeah, exactly. I have no idea. I'd buy any one of his finalists at this point though I still think the smart guess is CMU.

He's not incredibly athletic.

Think of Manny Harris then make him a bit slower and a worse leaper. Then make him a little bit smoother shooter. Then completely take off any ability to make a free throw (which makes no sense because Trey can make mid-range jumpers with ease).

I agree. Kearney has upside, but Ziegler is a better talent right now.

So in other words he's not much like Manny at all...

Ya Im not entirely sure whats up with his free throws lately, I remember not too long ago in a play off game (forgive me for not remembering the team), but he went somewhere around 2-14 or something of the sort. He seems to have a good shot so maybe its all mental right now, like Nix at the beginning of the year. Idk time will tell. Good news is if he comes to MSU, everyday he can get up and shoot free throws with Izzo maybe we should use that as a good pitch to come here

The style is similar. They both like slashing, they both like going right starting from the left sideline, they both settle for some bad jumpers sometimes, and they both have quick hands to cut passing lanes on defense. Trey's a better shooter but Manny's more athletic... and Trey can't make a free throw.
